What's also not logical is holding a chairman to ransom against everything he says. A side from the fact that I think he only said that top 10 would be the aim this season, most chairmen bang on about Europe, ambition, doing more than just surviving etc. Difference is, most mong fans have a sense of realism and don't let it get to them like some do.

I should imagine that trying to sign a player like Gaston is like family planning....need to have a good grasp of when is appropriate to do it and need to be financially secure enough for the forseeable future. Without the right level of planning, you could end up like a befuddled car mechanic instead.

I believe players DO get tapped UP but nothing to SUGGEST that MAN UTD had ANYTHING to DO with the BUTTNER deal in FALLING through. If Man Utd wanted him they could have come in for him at any time and he would have gone to them. They wouldn't need to tap a player up to compete for a player with a club like ours

Whole range of opinions on here. Signing to be complete in a few days all the way to "never in a million years" (despite getting to advanced negotiation stages and agreeing terms with the player). I think we've got a good chance but won't be crying myself to sleep if it doesn't happen which is also quite likely.
