The way Wigan overran us first half it was ****ing obvious 4-4-2 would be suicide in the Prem. Many on here said it. The problem wasn’t the formation but the players (managers instructions?) unwillingness to support the lone striker with pacy runs.
After Newcastle I told myself, “they can’t play any worse than that”. Boy I was wrong. The players we have don’t have the guts for this. They all know they’ll be back in the Prem with other teams anyway.
Our players must be really thick. What part of “keep it simple, keep it tight, hold ‘em off for the first 20 minutes, don’t let the crowd get into it” do they not understand?
I’m gutted. Was nervous but confident Hughes would turn this around. It’s basically the same as that first half vs Wigan but with Prem strikers. Hopefully we can mount a comeback but it’s the hope that kills you.
These players are so utterly disfunctional. Who is the leader on the pitch?
Two weeks waiting on this game. Knew we’d have to keep it tight early doors, frustrate the crowd and then pounce.
Instead we come out like a bus load of spastics on a beach trip to Bournemouth and literally gift them 2 goals and get the crowd behind them.
So utterly Saints. You can’t make this **** up.
If a genie let you guarantee a win in one of the two games coming up vs Chelsea (meaning we lose the other one).
Which one would you pick?
League or Cup?
