a 19 year olds who was arrested this morning had his dad on talksport just now....he actually backed the police and hopes his son (who he is ashamed of) goes to jail...he had a good up bringing...not well off but not poor..always have nice clothes and this was a shock....after speaking to his son earlier...his son confessed to do it for the buzz and because he could.. I wonder if that is a similar trend.

You really are so wrong. I used to live in north London and it is full of massive ****s. These people have no respect for the law, carry weapons and cry to the papers when the police stop and search them... These kids do not live in the 3rd world. I suspect all of them have nice clothes, mobile phones. I grew up with less than nothing in the 80s, no home, sometimes no food and many times no hot water... Which is far less than these scum... This cannot be excused and must be crushed It's sad how we are now in. Culture where the police rather stand and watch them. Get the armed forces on the streets and see what these punks do when the law bites back!!!!!

It's sad when the deputy of the MET is asking parents nicely to try and get their kids home... FFS, just order a curfew and anyone out causing trouble is fair game for some lawful force from the police

a spokesman for the MET was on talksport and 5live this afternoon going ballistic about the culture we are now in..where every single time the police in these situations show any sign of force and the complete over reaction and bad press they get...it puts the guys on the front line in two minds/more resrved mentality....he also said he expected to get sacked after his comments but he went right into one and said the police in these situations simply cannot win..
