Too many girly apologists. lol
-
AP comes across as very top bloke in this interview - level headed - sensible. Dean Wilkins has something about him too - I like the fact he clearly has a good relationship with AP too - means he understands what the gaffer is THINKING, not just what he's saying....essential for a Asst. Mgr.

There is a much simpler and more equitable solution.
Any club falling into financial problems does so because of incompetent LEADERSHIP.
It is those people who should be punished. It requires work with the Government to make it an offence to over reach ones financial capacity in football.
The Directors should be 1) Banned from holding ANY Director level appointment for a minimum of five years, and
2) owner/shareholders who allowed it to continue should be stripped of their shares and the equity held in trust for a period of 3 years and then re-sold with the proceeds going to the CLUB
The FANS of Leeds & Portsmouth benefitted from football above their level of financial input, BUT did WE really see any benefits? Did Stockport or Chester or Luton?
No.
If the penalties apply to those who caused the pain they would think twice
An absolutely first class post Phil and exactly what I was about to type, so thanks for saving me the effort.
I would liken the present situation to one of us going into an Apple store to buy an i-phone and then 6 months later someone telling us that we have to have it downgraded in specification because the design company over-reached its design budget to provide a better product. It wouldn't happen because there are consumer laws that protect us. So where's the protection for FC supporters from poor FC management?! Yes, there needs to be sanctions against excessive spending and poor financial management, but not in a manner that hurts the life blood of the sport - the supporters.

We have officially split into two factions.
The girly men - who are supposedly prepared to wait and see. Scared of a good debate in case some imaginary club guardian reads the forum, they are bleeding heart softies who pop their heads in the sand and don't come out until someone kicks them in the @rse. And yet it will be these people who are the first to bleat and complain after we lose too many games and look like L2 contenders.
Then there's the real men who look a challenge in the eye and call a spade a spade. Or a girly man a girly man if you like. We are the Realistic Optimists. We stand up for what's right, while still supporting the lads. Woof.
You decide.
There - fixed it for you.

What I like about Murty is he walks the walk on the pitch. His positional sense is very good and when he regains match fitness, I think you will see that he is far from past his best in terms of agility with some telling runs to the byline and good crosses. If Rasiak is still around, he will benefit greatly from Murty IMO.

Good point, I was focusing on the negative.... down negative man, down!
If it's a five year plan to get to the EPL then it'll be interesting to see how they want to utilise the academy and how the current youngsters in the first team grow in stature to, firstly gain promotion in League One and then compete in the CCC.
I think if we're relying on the youngsters to get us out of L1, we'll be here for a lot longer than 3 seasons TBH. Reading what AP has said, he'll not be risking the future to dogma regarding the youth. If they're good enough they will get in - if not they will not. The present crop are largely too slight of build or not pacey enough (e.g. for the wings) IMO and will not get into the team fighting to get out of L1.
-
Nothing will happen today other than more speculation. I think AP is finding it hard to attract the right players to the club.
-
So the plan is to stay in L1 for three years. Mmm, well that's a little different to previous 'reports' that suggested two, however provided there's a clear plan then fine. It is clear we will not be obtaining Prem quality in L1 - thats not an issue and pretty much a given.
My only slight concern is that we also heard a similar story when we dropped to the CCC and look where that got us. I know it's a different regime, renewed hope etc., however this league is as tough to get out of as the CCC. There are clubs with strength that will be fighting tooth and nail to get out with us. In this league, it is not about attracting Prem quality players with money - its about utilising money in the right way to attract the right players that can battle their way out of the league. Hopefully, Jaidi will sign because he is exactly the type of player that we need. Hopefully, Wotton will not persist in the team because despite his heart, he is the standard of player in CM that will keep us in League One. IMO.
-
Yep - like the sound of that... someone buying me a beer that is. And I would be very grateful and I would listen to all their ideas about the squad and bite my tongue. When and where?
-
Oh well, never mind. It must have been a real problem signing a 34 yr old player. Can't expect to see a 33 yr old signed also. LOL.
-
Anti climax alert...f*ckers!
TBF that's what I've been warning of for a few days now. Amusing really.
-
LOL @ all those thinking this would be massive news of several signings. The only surprise is that it took this long to sign a 34yr old RB. Good player though that is another piece in defensive shake-up.
-
Oh, Surman did play in a friendly v Scunny on Tuesday..
Mmm, one mention in whole match report. Not that inspiring
TBF.

Poopey really are looking to be a complete and utter demolition job this season. In fact, this seasons 'Derby'. lol
-
i wouldnt be suprised if Jiadi was joined by Bruno N'Gotty as they played as a central defensive partnership at Bolton and I think they are both are free transfers
Yes, that would really be a good partnership - but I cannot see N'Gotty coming here can you?
-
Nice rumour.
-
We lost each time this happened, too!
Unbearably harsh!
-
He is left footed (incredibly left footed!!!) but he is not a left winger/midfielder - he simply doesn't have the pace for it. Stick him in the middle as one of two strikers, with a foil to play off, and maybe, just maybe HCDAJFU.
Interesting observation. I think he could be superb alongside Rakiak - those two would have us scoring left, right and centre IMO.
-
like the way they pretend the Salisbury game was reserves....
If it wasn't the whole lot should be sacked for that dismal performance. First half was utter cack.
-
Beckford would be useful - would he be any better than Rasiak? Not so sure. Better than Saga - YES.
-
Everybody knows pulis is first team anyway, what does he have to prove?
Absolutely nothing - he epitomises the flourishing talent that has been assembled in the squad ready to defend a L1 -10pt deficit and can do no wrong. He is an amazingly talented player who, once the season has started proper, will suddenly show us the true nature of his genius. Everything is OK - there are no problems - AP will be bringing in new players purportedly, but only to assist Pulis (and Wotton for that matter) where needs be. We're gonna walk this league...and its guys like this that are going to do the job. Onwards and upwards.
Wow that felt so great - so positive am I. More positive than anyone else this evening. We're gonna smash Woking alright - yeah, 9-1 to us...
Oh ahem...

strange editing things...
No. We have in fact been trapped in a black hole for the last 10 years (ish) and hence theory of relativity means it just seems like 2 weeks. HTH.
