We went to Charlton. They were six wins in a row. We hadn't won a game. We played fecking well and had control of half of the game at least - apart from a wee wobble when they scored totally against the run of play. Mellis came on and won a penalty that wasn't given. Jaidi came on and helped us attack with a touch more class than Perry. Waigo wasted time to ensure we got a fully deserved draw. These are all basic concepts to most people who have watched football for a while. The rest of you might think about getting to a game a bit more often... Jeez...

Question: who did GB buy who is now a lynchpin of our team? By contrast did you know that Pardew bought Racon and Sam for Charlton - widely credited by Charlton fans as being behind their current success (both unavailable to Pards through injury while at Charlton).
-
I can't compare the two, as I saw one and the other happened at the far end. Just call me Wenger...

18/1 with the Tote. I am sure you can get better but the Tote owe me some cash so it was a bet to nothing!

I agree a draw was a fair result - I travelled with a couple of Charlton supporting pals and they felt we had done enough to win it first half and them second! Not sure I would say the off-sides were dodgy - my pals were sat opposite and thought we played a good line. So on balance probably the right result, but by eck it's annoying when you see a chance to grab 3 points at the top of the table denied by a bit of cowardly refereeing...

You won't get any disagreement from anyone on that. Just p!ssed off that I will be at the Goodwood Revival next Saturday when we finally stuff someone!
-
I didn't see that game but the two I have seen since we looked the better team and deserved better from the result.

We should have won Um. When a bloke is hauled over, then tripped, on the six yard line, that's normally a penalty...

Yesteday we played with five in midfield to cancel out the league's most rampant midfield and it worked. We missed a couple of chances - Mills early on and then Lambert's hopeless free kick. We should have had a penalty. We started the second half brilliantly and then gave a really sloppy goal away. Against teams who don't play 4-5-1 we will probably have a better opportunity to open them up but we must improve delivery into the box at pace from set-piece (corner's especially) and we need to find a good strike partnership - maybe Saga and Lambert? But for my money, we will start scoring more goals when we have better confidence and this will come from going to places like Charlton and coming away with good performances and good results.

And in case people missed it. WE SHOULD HAVE HAD A FECKING PENALTY ON 93 MINUTES. CLEAR STONE WALL. AS STONE WALL AS THOSE THAT FLANK THE YORKSHIRE DALES.

Er, you are offering me 3/1, for a bet I have just had £50 on at 18/1. You give me 12/1 and it's a bet...

Totally, the goal came when we were on top, not because of our defence, but because our corner was poor and then Perry's ball back in was aimless. It is this movement and composure in the final third that it why we are not winning games. I think Pardew is still searching for his strike force -across the pitch - and yesterday playing 5 in midfield did not help, although it did help stifle Charlton very effectively most of the game.

Nah, we have Perry on the bench who is still a quality defender. We will soon have one of Holmes, Mills, Lallana, James, Waigo on the bench to mix it up. We have Saganowksi on the bench. Trust me. This is a good side coming together. Today we were bloody unlucky not to come away from the league leaders with a win.

Er, why would I back them when I hadn't seen the new team??!! I am confident I will be collecting. The league is yet 39 games young - that's 117 points to play for my friend...
-
Didn't they teach us the value of pace and width? As if we didn't know...
-
You are sooooo right. We all said the same. Dopey berk.
-
You'll be eating your words you miserable git, trust me. Our back four with Jaidi is head and shoulders above anything else in the league. When the goals start coming they won't stop.
-
Have you seen who we have played and where they are in the league?? By the time we play them again we will be on a winning run and I have today backed us for promotion. We outplayed Charlton and still don't have our best 11 on the park.
-
Yeah, hauled over first then tripped up for good measure!!! Bloody joke ref was looking at it and bottled it!!!
-
To be fair, we were out of the traps second half better than I have seen in a long, long time. Bloody typically, THEY then score totally against the run of play!
-
Er, anyone go today? Stone fecking wall penalty. Last minute. We should be sat here with three points. Useless, useless officials. Ratings: Kelvin - n/a Trotman - 8 Perry - 7 Harding - 7 Thomas - 8 Mills - 7 Morgan - 7 James - 6 (poor today, shame) Lambert - 6 (really no service but didn't go looking and didn't hold the ball up) Hammond - 6.5 Lallana - how do you rate him? What was his job?? Waigo - too brief Mellis - should have had a penalty Jaidi - looks a class apart. Good game, good point. Onwards.
