Good point I guess, although more referring to the fact that, given Everton's position, we are the heavy favourites to win.

The only 'Southampton Way' I know is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. 0-3 loss incoming

Hesketh has to, at the very least, be on the bench. Should start really. Or start him at Man City for the surprise factor.
-
So Everton play tonight and then have an early kick off on Sunday. Not nice for them, good for us though.

Football clubs and gender neutral pronouns.
Pamplemousse replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
It doesn't affect me negatively in any way so who cares? If Saints did it I would neither be bothered nor outraged. -
I wonder if Mr Gao has a SaintsWeb account?
-
Of course it will, but we'll see if it lasts. Man City we can write off really, it's a free hit for us. Didn't Pellegrino's Alaves beat Barcelona last season? And we drew up there last season (Redmond goal!!) so who knows what will happen.

Jim McCalliog Gordon Hobson David Armstrong Paul Rideout Andy Cook Alan McLoughlin Barry Horne Iain Dowie Neil Maddison Egil Ostenstad Kevin Davies Neil McCann Jermaine Wright Paul Wotton Jason Puncheon Guly Do Prado Gaston Ramirez Sadio Mané Charlie Austin Some of those are way before my time so I have no idea how they compare. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/rueckennummern/verein/180

Paul Wotton and Neil McCann are up there as well

Also very interesting that K Billy is very much against sacking the manager. Some sort of ITK good cop bad cop strategy??

First season back, when we went to QPR and beat them 3-1. The media dubbed the match 'El Sackico'. I think they were 20th and we were 19th. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/20278600 I guess there were perhaps a couple more after that, but that one sticks out in my memory as being a massive game for us at the time.

Oh dear, a 2-1 defeat at the Posh. Their play-off dream takes another big hit.

Strachan doesn't have a big enough reputation apparently for our international mega stars

Bosz would be excellent for us. Fits the black box criteria, the only box he doesn't tick is that he's currently employed. Once he's sacked, he'll be top of the list surely.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/4232308.stm Dennis Wise starred for Southampton in a match that was delayed for 40 minutes after the floodlights failed. Southampton boss Harry Redknapp: "I've never seen a team create and miss so many chances. If we still had Peter Crouch and Kevin Phillips up front we'd have won by seven. "It was not a great point. In fact it was very much two points lost so far as we are concerned. "We should have won comfortably. We played some tremendous football and three points were for the taking." That must have motivated the players...

We're 7th in the table for goals conceded. Assuming that there is roughly where we are aiming to finish, the defence is doing OK. Attack is the issue that needs fixing.
-
What are you on about? We are organised defensively already. We've conceded fewer goals than Liverpool, Arsenal, amongst many others. Defence is not the issue (not including the goalkeeper obviously) - it's the attack. We don't need another defensive manager, we need someone who will play on the front foot. Rodgers is my first choice but Adkins would improve us in that regard as well.
-
Right, because they're performing under Pellegrino... And you want Big Sam!!   None of what I say is untrue at all, and you know it. Boufal would thrive under Adkins, just like Lallana did. A dinosaur like Allardyce is not the answer.
