  1. As much as I want to laugh at them for making this appointment, I can't. As pointed out by others, it seems a sensible move, financially, and suggests they are trying to live within their means and build for the future. It's also good to see young coaches given a chance to step up a level. If it wasn't Pompey, I'd wish him well and hope he's a success. But it is, so unfortunately I hope he's an abject failure.
  2. If they keep this disciplinary record up, they won't have a squad left at the end of the month.
  3. Fairly recent interview with Roman Dubov, not sure if it's been posted: http://www.sports.ru/en/football/109721844.html Pompey made £1 million profit last year, apparently, (though one reason was the parachute payments) and there's no budget restrictions on player transfers.
  4. http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20110721/league-clubs-to-reduce-subs-from-7-to-5_2293334_2398424/0,,10794,00.html At least Pompey are less likely to moan about not being able to fill the subs bench.
  5. Another young player let go: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/great-matches/midfielder_to_be_shown_blues_door_1_2544507 "What is the difference between having six subs or seven subs?", says Steve - will have to remember that quote next year.
  6. I wonder if The News get some kind of commission for every time they used the word "versatile" (or any variation thereof) when describing a Poopey player? They've been using it an awful lot lately
  7. http://keithdaily.blogspot.com/2011/01/january-2011-transfer-window-pompey_2885.html Sums it up quite nicely.
  8. Isn't it the CVA meeting today? Should be interesting to see what comes out of that.
  9. Just seen Chanrai on SSN, stating that if it all goes through, he's got a few surprises for the supporters: "maybe Premiership football next season".
  10. Gaydamak's lawyer release statement on SSN saying the administrators "fundamentally changed" the deal. That's why they didn't sign - are still willing to go forward, but Pompey are not.

  12. "We need to get closure by Monday or Tuesday", according to AA
  13. "We need to get closure by Monday or Tuesday", according to AA
  14. "Hours away from liquidation", apparently.
  15. He wants a lump sum payment upfront to release his security.
  16. Seems like another pity card to me. AA is "still hopeful". Just trying to force Gaydamak's hand, methinks.
  17. On SSN now.
  18. I do wonder why more hasn't been made of this in the media. Dundee go into administration with debts of £8 million, Pompey with £119 million. £119 million And yet they're on a promotion push. And no questions are being raised outside of this forum. Dundee sensibly release several high-paid first team players. Pompey release youth players and low-wage back room staff, and bring in Premier League players. It really does beggar belief. I know this has all been said before, but I really can't get over it. £119 million! I spoke to a Pompey fan today, and he was completely oblivious to it all, pondering their chances of going up. Impressed with that lad Lawrence, he was. Why is it only on here that £119 million is no more than short change, that'll be found behind the sofa in the next few weeks. [/RANT]
  19. It tickles me greatly that on the news sports page, the story that Pompey "could go out of business" is next to a story about unleashing the "Hermannator", who they presumably signed on higher wages than the youth prospect they loaned out to make room from him in the squad. Marvellous.
  20. I love the smell of burning toast in the morning.
  21. I've been playing this for the best part of the week - it's good, but not great. The single player campaign is brilliant, but only takes around 5/6 hours to complete. Multiplayer is decent enough, but lacks the depth of customisation available in COD, and only has a few game modes. Most are capture/defend jobbies, and it gets quite repetitive.
  22. So is it too simplistic to say that, if they are relying on this £1,000,000 to pay this month's wages, they need that kind of figure every month? How much of the Golden Share will go toward wages?
  23. It looks as though Genoa have paid two installments, though there could be an issue with Inter. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11854_6421342,00.html
  24. Missed that bit out, Lamps. You can thank me later. Surely the embargo should allow you to give youth more experience, therefore aiding their development?
  25. Didn't the FL also say in their responses to emails, that they would look at possible further "offences" once Pompey have come out of administration, but they wanted to get that issue resolved first. Not that that would necessarily be a points deduction, but I'm sure I read that somewhere in this thread.
