  1. In fairness, that may well be out of our control. There seems to be a sentiment floating around that the reason the 26 (well, 2 really...) were so intransigent/inflexible is that Sarkosy wants to force us out. I get the impression that the German sentiment is softening, perhaps in the cold light of day the Germans are getting a bit worried about losing us, seeing as we are much more alike minded to them about living within your means than the French or the Southern countries. However, the dust hasnt yet settled enough that distracting all the woes from the Euro with a bit of Brit-bashing still has good domestic political mileage in der Vaterland...
  2. Dont agree. Preventing the use of EU institutions is the only way that Cameron can make good on the veto, in order to protect the City from taxation/regulation. Otherwise, as you said, its just bad PR internationally and good PR domestically which will turn to very bad PR domestically if we then step back from making good on our word to protect the City. I expect us to go all the way on this.
  3. Just watched all 90mins unadulterated courtesy of sportdigital in Austria/Germany. In fairness, apart from the ball bouncing in his face when he went to collect it in the first 5 mins, that ridiculous reaction to a shot in the first half, and the second goal itself, I didnt think he was too bad. He was still willing to come off his line. I reckon if we are forced to rely on him against the blue scum, he wont let us down. However, middle term I wonder about his prospects/chances if he stays with us.
  4. I reckon if we are forced to rely on Bart next week, he wont let us down. BUT We cannot afford him to take 1-2 weeks and a game to get acclimatised to playing every time he steps in. So, in the absence of NA being willing to time-share the #1 jersey, maybe we should face the fact that Bart is not good at coming in cold, and that if he is clearly second fidddle, our set up is not the best for him. What is so controversial about that, FFS ?
  5. What delicious arrogance. Democratic right to vote is inalienable, not dependent upon passing an IQ test. And I see you managed to get an anti-Empire rant in there. In my opinion, this has nothing to do with the issue, but full marks for the effort.
  6. Yes thats right, must have been written before the serious backpedalling from Danny Alexander... The last thing you want mate is an election being called now because the LibDems walk away; you'll end up with a Tory majority AND a f**king referendum.
  7.
  8. I am OK with that idea. The German economy is heavily dependent on car production, and thats in trouble long-term anyway.
  9. Being serious and non-jingoistic for a moment, I take on board the comments about one way or the other the City was going to lose out on Friday by whatever was decided, and that the pain may now be even worse. But for me, the UKs participation in the EU, and the ridiculous horse-trading, corruption and bullying that goes with it, has reached the last chapter, and a massive re-alignement of the UK economy away from the services sector back to manufacturing has been up to 2 decades overdue anyway. As someone on SKy News said yesterday, the UK needs to re-invent itself as the European equivalent of S. Korea and start using our pedigree for innovation to start making quality and sought-after products again. As the Germans have proven, make decent products and people will pay that extra. And FFS, keep the f**king unions away from the project... Britain sits on the cusp of its greatest opportunity since the Industrial Revolution.
  10. hehehehe. Quality. Never knew we had so many loony left wahnkahs on here. Seems to be a bit of correlation with happy-clappiness as well..
  11. At the moment : 1. Lambert 2. Chaplow 3. Guly
  12. I'd like to know how exactly you detected "relish" in my post. And as for starting a "negative" thread, the GK situation is the most important thing that has arisen from yesterdays game, especially with a visit to Krap Notarf coming up next week, FFS !!! I cant help you imagining or interpreting things to fit a bullsh*t agenda, just as I can help the happy-clappies who are incapable of mixing up a bit of reality in their outlook...
  13. Stupid response. He's not capable of reading your mind.
  14. I reserve judgement till I see the results of the January transfer window. All will become clear at that time. We dont currently have the squad strength to sustain the campaign to secure promotion.
  15. So when do they start bombing Berlin and Paris ?
  16. Aw, crap. Fingers crossed...
  17. Fine, then we need someone good enough to compete for and share the #1 spot with Kelvin.
  18. This I agree with.
  19. How about you take a deep breath, forget who started the thread, grow up and look at the situation objectively.... We've been nigh well invincible at SMS for the past year or so. Yes, sooner or later that was going to come to an end, but everyone expected to be against a f**king great team or a team playing well out of their skin. Not against the likes of this Blackpool team. The reason ? Our goalkeeper was pants, and his nervousness spread thru the team like a wild fire. He has the ability, but not the mentality, and overcoming that is not being helped by getting one game in 100 we play. He needs to move on to get the right sort of playing and exposure, and we need a GK that can be relied upon to come in at short notice and do the job even if it is only for the odd blue-moon game.
  20. Made me feel a lot better...
  21. Why dont you read my words ? I chose them very carefully. I havent said he isnt capable of being a brilliant goalkeeper, just the way its worked out with us hes never got an extended run as first choice and now we have resources he wont get it either; he needs to go elsewhere, be first choice, and work out his mental issues during an extended run.
  22. Well thats not a problem for Sarkozy and Merkel - Eire will vote yes just to spite Britain (despite we privately bailed them out a while back).
  23. From the same people ?
  24. And why do the same morons always focus on the site whipping boys when actually loads of posters are saying the same thing in the match thread ???
  25. You know for a fact he will back next week having missed this one ?
