I think these drawings are a gauntlet thrown down by NC. He is showing his hand of his ambition and now it is up to the fans to show theirs with attendances. I know I keep saying it but I feel this season is key.

Great logic and i do think you are right but it does make me laugh that people on here keep staying we are restricted to this capacity on this stand, we can't extend this stand because of this etc. We can make any stand practically any capacity if the right money is spent.

Agree if certain trigger points are achieved. The only problem we all have is we don't know what these are.

The Brighton example does show how a L1/championship club thinks its viable to spend £93M on stadium then spend more millions on expansion without even making it to the prem yet. We are currently a prem club with a stadium as good as paid for. To spend money on our stadium is not over stretching I think.

I also found it strange when the council released the masterplan drawing of the city in the next 20 years that the industrial estate remained. This land would have massive development potential if the waterfront is developed all the way to ocean village.

My feeling is that they have had these drawings for a while as a long term vision and have decided to release them now to ST holders to create a real good feeling around the club before the season starts.

Or it might be just to reward the ST holders first?

I've been trying not to read into the fact that these dawings were only released via a DVD to season ticket holders rather than to the press.

I do think you are forgetting that character costs money. B&Q buildings are fit for purpose and are built that way because that is the most practical way of doing it. SMS is a cheap practical stadium that conforms to modern standards.

Just thinking about the convention centre in the pic (if that is what it is). Could this be owned by someone else? If Saints were to go into partnership with another party then the purchase of the industrial estate, surrounding area and building of the centre could be done cheaply? Shared car park and facilities etc Pie in the sky I know but does make you think. I stayed in the Jurys Inn next the the echo arena in Liverpool a year or so ago which is very impressive.

Yep all these pics mean is we are a step closer to getting something like this but there is still a long way to go before this becomes reality. However a step closer nonetheless.

I was thinking the same that this would be done in phases like what wolves have done. If each stand was done as a phase then I can't see there being much disruption as SMS was built with this in mind. Whether each phase could be done in 3 months I doubt it but the major structural works could possibly be done in this time with the remaining lesser works done during the season. My guess which is based on nothing is each stand would take 1 season to complete.

Yes we just don't what the trigger points for this to happen are? staying up next season? 3 seasons in the top flight? or something completely different.

Not mega money purchases though compared with having to buy a load of housing. Also something the council would look favourably on for planning.
