Aintforever I dont brag on here about money or jobs and you can look all you want for that but I can assure you where I live is as nice an anywhere in Southampton can offer, I can absolutely guarantee that.

Bath Oxford Plymouh Brighton Kendal Carlisle Harrogate Ilkley Whitby Off the top of my head are all smaller or similar size and have far more things to do in the day for a tourist than Southampton. If you want to compare solely Northern Cities as you think they are **** and dour try Chester, Glossop, Keswick and Llangollen.

You only have to look at the whats on in Southampton, its hard not to blush but also be angry at the lack of foresight and initiative shown by the council, what have the tory bastards done with the dough over the years?

I agree with Pap which is strange, Sotonians are my blood on one side for many generations but we and I say we think the City and area is actually far better than it is, its my hometown and I will always call it home but I left and stayed away for a reason, I would however move back but it would not be to Southampton, it would be Curdridge way as I would live a quiet life but not as quiet as if I was in town.

City centres, does Cowes want to be associated with Southampton? They have their identity, we have an ikea.....................

From crap towns returns Take a look at a map of the UK. You see roughly in the middle of the south coast that there is an opening? Looks a bit like the country’s bumhole? That’ll be Southampton, the most depressing place I’ve ever visited, whose main claim to fame is that the Titanic sailed from there, killing hundreds of locals in the process. But that was in the glory days. Now, it’s a culture-less abyss with amenities and nightlife that make Chelmsford look like New York. Southampton: the only place in the UK I’ve ever seen someone get on a bus and nonchalantly spark up a crack pipe.

Thank you CB Fry, people are extending their argument (still incorrect) to try and strengthen it by adding places on and bizzarrely getting ****ty about London, London is a great City if you live in one of select few suburbs but other than that mundane and expensive for travel and housing, I can comment on this as I have done and so have family for years. Southampton as a City is dour and grey, its my spiritual home and to others I will always try and defend it but its hard when it truly is **** to other Cities for things to do. People then bring in the New Forest and others which only shows that our City the core as such is ****ing ********,

Wes Southampton was called the 4th crappest place in the UK, not the New Forest, its merely an add on, if I liked the New Forest I would move there and not Southampton, how many people have you met and said they moved down to Southampton because they liked the New Forest or Hamble? They are add ons and benefits but not a reason to move somewhere, I would look at the local area, O love an hour away from the Lakes but you can hardly say I am on the doorstep can you?

You're wrong but to go along with that say I dont like sailing in the Southampton area? The greatest concentration is the North Shore area of Auckland I would guess, having lived there its awash with ****ty little things that supposed aspiring people call a yacht when it fact its a rib or small boat.

So because a yacht is sold in Britain it makes that area the yachting capital of the World? Thats a bit much dont you think? Annapolis, Auckland and Palma **** all over it to also **** on your delusions of grandeur.

If you think Southampton is the yachting capital of the World I suggest you open your eyes a little bit more.

******** to the list, the reality is we dont have many tourists here and the reasons are obvious, there is nothing there, its barren, the Gallery is good but there are many better, the boat show? Exactly how much does that bring in? I do take the number of tourists as a barometer as too how good a City is as do many others, what good restaurants and hotels are there in the City?

Why are Sotonians so infatuated with London? Who gives a ****, great place to visit and work but live? My brother lived for 15 years there all over and it was nice and expensive or **** and cheap, thats it full stop thats London. But why are Sotonians so wrapped up over it is beyond me.
