Oh Jeff, I'm confused! I think the show is dumb on every single level. I think it's equally demeaning of the men and the women on the show. A TV company taking advantage of the participants desire for fame. But none seem to mind, so I don't think it something to get upset over. I didn't watch the show tonight. Was there something offensive on it that was out of the ordinary?

Oh Jeff. Really? Guys chose to be on the show. It's a dating show. I've never seen a guy not look like he's having fun. You're including that as an example to counter the experience suffered by professional women doing their jobs while being called a sl*g. Really?

England footballer 'arrested over underage sex allegations'
Coxford_lou replied to Twiggy's topic in The Lounge
Lots of talk on here about 15 year old girls. Anyone know what it's like to be one? In case not, this will help: -
It's like going back in time. The game was quite an experience! My boyfriend at the time was sh*t scared. (Bloody wimp). Obviously I couldn't cheer Saints goals (and I wouldn't do that anyway) but I wasn't going to pretend I was supporting Millwall, dammit. But oh my god, I was ready to burst when we scored the winner. Had to walk in silence until away from the stadium before I could scream. Was so jealous of the away fans that night. What a game! I've never seen so many white, bald, beer bellied men in a such a small vicinity before. (Well, other than Coxford )

It is, and it's not the only dark corner.

A few people have said they haven't heard it - but I think that's because Saints supporters are generally pretty decent and you generally only here those around you. Can you imagine Saints supporters shouting 'get your tits out' to the girl we had on the training team? No. I was lucky (!) enough to be in the Millwall end when we played them and Sian Massey was on the line, and it was pretty extreme. Even the kids were shouting the worst kind of abuse! I think Eva and Sian are trailblazers for women in the game, and I expect more women to want to further their career in football as it becomes more common. I suspect this debate is going to become more and more relevant.

To be fair, I always follow these rules when I'm interacting with you lot. I always try and be gay (even when I'm really thinking your a bunch of d*cks) I always try and be happy when I see you, and fake laughter at Turks jokes. I never ask you questions about your actions or question your judgement (except UJ, PB, Hypo, Whelk, Griffo, Sourcream...) I know my place.
-
When have I said I feel disrespected by men all the time? Don't put words in my mouth, thank you.
-
Ooh, here's another one!!
-
Oh my god, that's twice the Turk has made me laugh. No!! Stop this!!
-
I don't know really. I think a lot of people don't really know what it's like to be female, or what we put up with. But then they wouldn't, would they. I think it would be interesting to let you experience it - it won't be like you expect!

Thank f*ck, some sanity. The FA are starting the debate. Before now, there hasn't even been any debate. For that it's a good thing. Not sure if this thread has achieved much, but at least it's making people think, even if they don't agree. That's a starter for something. And yes, I agree our fan base are good. (Millwall with Sian Massey on the line was a very different experience...yikes). It definitely won't go away this generation, but it might when your kids get older, if we start the conversation now.

Exasperated, Hypo. Not lairy. I don't do lairy. Still exasperated, and a bit depressed alongside it. I predict, ooh, roughly 9 years, before things start changing. Is that a bit too optimistic? Maybe!
-
I'm not offended! I can't answer some of the questions you're asking, because the fact you're asking them in the first place, suggests we're in a very different place on it, and I don't think I'd be able to scratch the surface with a response, so best not go there. You ask if I would be offended by a stranger in the street calling me a slag. You compare that to the fact people call you all sorts of names on here and you don't take offence. You and your life experience is so far removed from me and my life experience, that there no point trying to persuade you any differently, because you're clearly not going to get it. I'm not saying that to be rude, it's just reality, and no point wasting energy on it. Anyway, it's a football forum - what did I expect?!
-
Sorry, but your mate Patrick gave away all your secrets... we know what you did in the toilets. But that's ok, we're quite open minded about it.
-
Oh, here we go boys.... Here come the 'she said this to me, and I wasn't offended. Can't see what the problem is...' stories... Let's fill up a couple more pages if we can. Any lurkers feeling nervous to come forward with your 'why would you care what a stranger says to you...' stories? Now's your moment!! Come and feel part of the crowd, it will make you feel good about yourself I promise you!!!

I've certainly got good thread response rates! With a bit more training I'm sure I could turn nasty too! Does that mean I can join the Birmingham Bully Boy Club?! Actually, er, no thanks.
-
It wasn't sexist (whether or not Turkish intended it to be) - it was true!
-
LOL. I'm sure it's not the intended effect, but I'm actually starting to quite like Turkish!
-
Andy, don't go all sensible on me now (you too BTF). I'm relying on this thread to cure me of my addiction to Saintsweb! It's starting to work!!!
-
Ooh, LOL, Jeff and Hypo are really going for it now! Go boys, do your business !! You'll feel better afterwards! I'm not going to call you on it! Say what you really think!!
-
Hi Patrick, I'm not angry. I was just shocked by the uncensored clip, and exasperated by the response to it (or lack of) on here. But smart girl that I am, I've realised that my take on this is a million miles off some of the other posters on here, so there's no value in extending the debate. I'm glad I raised it, but I can see it's not going to go anywhere. So I'm leaving it at that. Thanks.
-
Jeff, that's because you don't have to put up with crap like this on a regular basis. Most women do. And it often gets nasty or intimidating. I'm exasperated at the ease at which both you and Hypo seem to be able to brush this under the carpet with little empathy, or at least interest to understand more, from the opposite perspective. Which suggests it's probably time for me to leave this debate alone, because I don't want to be annoyed with either of you.

Thanks Jeff. Good to see what we're dealing with in all its ugly glory.
