They don't like saints much over there
-
As fans, we are collectively embarrassing at times with regards to Fox
-
Just tragic how small the RN has become.
-
We take too long to buy players and pay too much, they are decisive and have signed some bargains.
be prepared to have this theory ripped apart. MLG style
-
Surprised so many think Cardiff will go down ... ?
when was the last time all 3 newly promoted teams went straight back down?
-
Good job we've got SaintsWeb's finest scientific minds on the case. As always, whenever there is a tragic world event, you can rely on this place to investigate and solve any unresolved issues.
I wonder if the train driver is a 'crisis actor'?!
-
League one saints would beat England around he same time.
and the same time as 'best club outside of the top 4'
-
I feel like that on here sometimes, in the last few months every team that finished in around us has been slammed as awful,we've had players like Frank Lampard described as s*it. All other clubs business in the transfer window is terrible and everyone who finished from 8th down this season is going to struggle next, all the above excludes us of course, who have done everything brilliantly and are all set to flourish after our brilliance last season.
sorry pal, nothing will ever beat the summer of "kelvin for england'
-
British comedy's loss was the Royal Navy's gain, hopefully.
i see a few words on their list would ideally describe you
-
Who remembers last summer when people were saying how good Reading were going to do because they signed all these quality players before we had signed anyone?
The likes of Pavel "Play-for-a-contract" Pogrebnyak and Danny Guthrie were sure to see them shoot up the league and us relegated.
Hmmmmm. Sound familiar?
I was sure QPR would have done well 12 months ago
-
adkins has to get top 2, or he has failed really
-
Neither is witless predictable moron.
Happy days.
shell suit
afro
'calm down, calm down'
all seem to be fair game
happy days
-
thieving scouse ****, is not on there
sweet
-
Have you seen Lovren play every week? Wanyama?
Yet everyone on here seems to think Milan and Barcelona wanted them, lets be objective and fair.
I will add Wanyama is a good signing.
I have not passed judgement. your point?
-
has anyone really watched van wolfswinkel play an adequate number of times to pass a judgement that he would be a great signing?
dont be daft
-
Charlton 4th?!?!?! Leeds 3rd?!?! Out side the prem they seem to have made it up a bit...
be fair. prediciting the football league is near on impossible
NO ONE would have predicted saints remaining in the top 2 for every game of our NPC season.
infact, hardly anyone predicted promotion for us.
-
MLG, why bite, it's so obvious
-
how can we finish so high above norwich.
bazza has highlighted how amazing they now are!!!
-
Not disagreeing with the general theme but basing your analysis on numbers is a bit misleading. The two new carriers, for example, are a massive step up from what we've had previously. How much actual service we get from then of course is a different matter entirely and may prove your point even more strongly.
only so many units can be in any one place at a time.
-
I believe the previous labour Govt did even more damage than those you mention,as the cut as proposals to become an 'anti submarine' force were set about in the mid 70s
either way. no way could we send amything down to the falklands again. which was a benchmark on capabilities.
the only real thing we have in our favour are the cruise missiles.
-
bit like today, with certain ships listed as operational. I can tell for a fact that my pet dog is more operational than they are
they call it, 'extended readiness" these days. With the size of the RN as it is. incredible
-
That was his level, I'm sure he wasn't such a **** then and maybe didn't take himself so seriously. Since he came on the radar a bit more he's seemed a complete penis.
i have also met neil warnock. he is seen quite a bit down in plymouth
he was a very nice guy. loves to talk football and was really impressed when i met him.

Thought you might find this an interesting read.
As for frigates, Leanders were simply wonderful ships and certainly the best ships companies I've ever sailed with were found on them.
the navy is no longer even a shadow of its former self.
been decimated due to defence cuts and believe it or not (you probably would). it was CUT during the blair/brown years
its all about the army in the MoD
I have been in 14 years, even then it has shrunk quite a bit.
12 T45
7 T22
3 T23
2 Carriers
5 S-class Subs
2 T-Class subs
2 commando assault ships
as well as various 'small ships'
all gone
replaced with
3 assault ships
6 T45 destroyers
so far 3 astutes class sm (7 in total ordered)
2 carriers in build
and even less 'small ships'
that is it, quite a cut in numbers in major hulls. MOST done in the blair/brown years
here is what the navy was in 1954.
5 Battleships
11 Fleet Carriers
5 Light Fleet Carriers
4 Ferry Carriers
24 Cruisers
3 Fast Minelayers
2 Monitors
98 Destroyers
180 Frigates
70 Large Minesweepers
55 Submarines
75 Fast Patrol Boats
72 Motor Minesweepers
54 Inshore Minesweepers
60 Coastal Minesweepers
Several Dozen Miscellaneous Vessels.

Not as a starter, like I said, if we needed someone to come on with 10 minutes to go when we needed a goal then he could have done that Job and I dare say he'd have got a couple, he is a goal poacher and little else. Long term though, no he isn't the answer. I actually thought Mayuka would replace Lee in the squad.
I just cant see how he wouldnt have got a couple.
especially in the games (and there were a few) where we created so many chances and failed to score any (or maybe just 1)
