  1. Just spotted this gem on Twitter amongst the general wailing and gnashing of teeth:

Have no nerves tonight remember you're Pompey fans and have therefore already won the lottery of life everything else is a bonus
  2. Thing is, Martina's goal came from absolutely nothing. For half a second it looked like he just wellied it and it was headed for the top corner of the stadium and then the magic kicked in and it bent round impossibly for the net. The others are good but most are just long range boomers or some clever footwork in the box. Martina's is a thing of beauty and it left a lot of people saying 'how the f*ck did he do that from there?'

  3. Would also just like to point out that I drive my son home, dropped him off, heard the score and then drive back to Southampton and I laughed my way down the M3.

I posted in the early stages of the season saying that, surely, they would get promotion. Surely they couldn't possibly fail AGAIN.

Oh dear..... I do hope they didn't bet everything on promotion this season.

  4. So then, my sons third game and The tally is 11 goals scored.

I'm getting demands from the family that I take him to every home game......

Brilliant day out. Of the two teams in the first half we looked more likely to score.

Wanyama was an absolute tank, Romeu was everywhere, Mané was unplayable, Tadic turning that defender inside out was a thing if beauty. Forster his usual immense self.

Thought it was a beautiful moment when everyone wen over to celebrate with Kelvin after Pellé scored.

    Bring on Europe

  5. Put it this way- today is costing me £60 to take me and my son. If that was below £50 I'd go a lot more and I dare say so would a lot more people.

Note: I'm not complaining, I'm can afford it. However I'd love to take my son to every home game I possibly can. I know there are a lot more people out there who find the current price impossible to afford except very occasionally.

However to keep the stadium full the fanbase needs to be a lot more active, more singing etc to make it a place fans want to go to

  6. I wouldn't worry too much- a mate of mine supports Everton and he's a proper scouser, not a plastic like most of them. One mention of that website and he starts swearing.

It's just one point of view among many. They support their team, we support ours. History is all very well and good however Koeman would be managing the current squad, not the FA cup winning squad of 11 years ago. Tbh it's the same tired old argument your average skate trots out with monotonous regularity and it means nothing. They are just cups in a cabinet that need to be kept clean and fading memories in the minds of the fans, just like 1976 is for us.

The current Everton squad needs a complete overhaul if they want to achieve anything next season, the new owner is going to have to throw a serious amount of money at them to make a difference given how the rest of the league is doing.

  7. I completely agree Monk.

However I see it as my bound duty to keep this thread going so that in can become a Portsmyth and therefore give us another excuse to take the p!ss out of them for believing it.

    And of course:

    Zlatan.....

(Actually it just occurred to me what would happen if Zlatan and Costa came up against each other in a PL match........)

  8. Now, now you lot need to give up on it. You cannot push against the inevitable tide of history and FACT

Now if little Timmy skate wants to say he sent us down you all be kind and let him play in his little dream world

  9. We aren't aware of Utd robbing charities and schools yet.

I'm afraid that title still resides firmly at the fishy end of the M27. I'm sure the skates will proudly display it in their historical medal chest.

  10. We need to up our noise as well for this game. Last few games have been ok but really need to get the atmosphere rocking t help things along.

Have a word with the chapel end then. Like a f!cking library at the Man City game, I had to apologise to my son and explain that sometimes people don't want to sing

  11. Stek is a good keeper but I don't think he inspires much confidence in his defence. They just seem much more close knit with Forster in goal.

I was done with Gazzaniga quite some time ago - he's had long enough to prove himself and he hasn't done it
