Electrical Rewire of a House

Any ideas on realistic costs for both materials and labour? It's a complete rewire of a 4 bed house, with nothing special in terms of light fittings etc Standard number of double sockets per room, 2 shower rooms and a bathroom.

I have been given two quotations which are miles apart...

Thanks

I think mine was around £6,000 in 2009, also for 4 bed house but its hard to be sure because it was part of a lot of other work. That included wired in doorbell, smoke alarms, brushed chrome sockets and switches, new consumer board etc. A big factor in cost is whether the wires are going to be surface mounted or channelled into the walls and plastered over. The second is much preferable, but more expensive and you have to redecorate afterwards.

There are a number of websites which show quotes other people have got. Try these.
