paulwantsapint Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 What is the most amount of consecutive wins for a Saints team? What is the most amount of league wins in a season for Saints?
markr27 Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I was looking this up earlier and I believe the record to be six straight league wins...
Badger Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 Thought it was eight. Achieved at the most unlikely of times, whilst Branfoot was manager no less.
markr27 Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 A trip into the backwaters of the Official site reveals... Longest winning run (league): SIX (3/3/92 - 4/4/92). Longest unbeaten run: 19 matches (5/9/21 to 31/12/21).

markr27 Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I wasn't doubting you Badger, just backing my info via the official source! It got me interested, and plus I have nothing else to do at the moment, the games were: Southampton 1-0 West Ham Southampton 1-0 Crystal Palace Man City 0-1 Southampton Southampton 2-1 Luton Town Everton 0-1 Southampton Southampton 2-1 QPR Saints then lost to Forest 1-0 at The Dell (5/7 at home?!) to break the streak. Badger Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I wasn't doubting you Badger, just backing my info via the official source! I'm glad you did. I also remember us going on a run without a win in (I think)1988/9 whilst Nicholl was manager.Something like 23or24 games. We were at home to Newcastle and had we not won it would have broken that pitiful record from the 1920's(?).Mick Channon was interviewed before the match and at the time his dislike for Nicholl was widely reported.Channon's comment was to the effect that, well we won't break any records with Nicholl here, not even that one so we're bound to win. Ruddock scored a memorable last minute penalty for a 1-0 win.It really sparked some massive celebrations at The Dell.
