StuRomseySaint Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 (edited) Just been having a look at our form since October 1st since the team settled. By my Maths if we continue with the same form we have shown since October 1st then we will finish on 84 points, which would be have been good enough for 4th place last season. So, it is realistic to expect Saints to finish in a play-off place this season. Come on you reds!!! Taking into account our form since October, we will finish on... Played 46 Points 84 Goals For 101 Goals Against 54 Goal Difference +47 Also, if we started the season as well as we are doing now, we would finish on... Played 46 Won 34 Drawn 8 Lost 4 For 117 Against 54 Points 110 So to summarise... we are the team to beat at the moment. TopGun Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 But you also need to work out where the other teams are from 1 October. Though I have no doubt that even if we creep up one point per week to the play-off zone we'll be in the mix.
St Landrew Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 As mentioned before, I did the BBC Predictor last week, and my table ended with Saints on 81 points, and guess what..? In 4th place. I had to be very careful to make sure I paid as much attention to other teams form while I made my judgement on games. But it's probably no coincidence that I came out with practically the same points and position as SRS. What we obviously can't account for is mysterious drops in form, or key player injuries that cause a major impact to a team.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 December, 2009 Share Posted 14 December, 2009 i think 80 points should be enough for play-offs, so for us, its 90 from the start of the season. 90/46 = 1.9565 so after 21 games we shouldve earned 41 points, we have earned 35 as a result to a poor start. because of the -10, we are on 25 points now with 25 games left to get 55 more points. if we do that we need to get an average of 2.2 points per game or 11 points every 5 games. if we get 55, we could get it by 18 wins, 1 draw and 6 losses. the max number of points we can now get is 100, so we can drop 20 in 25 games. i think we can do it, in the last 2 years, 76 points has been enough to get into the play-offs, so we might not have to get
Whitey Grandad Posted 14 December, 2009 Share Posted 14 December, 2009 It's certainly very possible but I do worry about injuries and suspensions. We have the January window coming up and I would expect a couple of reinforcements, especially with Murty's injuries. These certainly are interesting and encouraging times. Saintandy666 Posted 14 December, 2009 Share Posted 14 December, 2009 I think Leeds, Charlton and maybe Norwich to a degree are going to run away with the top 3 spaces. The more this happens, the closer the rest of the league is which is good news for us

Nicely worked out.
