Sounds like our utter cunt of a DOF as well; he only raised his head above the parapet once we went on a good run of form.

Probably on the back of that article, but a 5 live show said much the same. Like you say, if the manager is sacked, the DOF has to come out and explain. They are known figures and fans know the responsibilities.

They said one reason is that there's still a lack of certainty on what the role of the DOF here is. It allows DOFs to escape responsibility, when their choices get sacked. Their roles aren't as well defined, or even as well understood here.
