Bailey Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 Matthew Le Tissier: "I'd just like to see the club debt free and on an even keel. If that means we have to start in League One and build up again, then so be it, but so long as the club is again on a sound financial footing and the long term future of Southampton is secure, then that's best thing. "If that means that the football has to suffer for a little while then we have to take that. The fans have to understand that, back the football club and back us to get back to where we feel we belong." No truer words have ever been spoken IMO. Now that League One football is almost a certainty next season, as fans of Southampton Football Club, we need to turn our attention and focus on keeping OUR club alive. Almost everyone on here has accepted that we're down this season, so now is the time to just get together, attend the Burnley game and show how much this club means to us, and to any potential investors. If you had a choice of no Southampton at all, or starting life in League One on -10 with new owners, new players, new manager and a new found belief, then I know what I'd choose. We need to go through these low points and tough times in order to appreciate the good times more. Southampton FC will be back.
Micky Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 Errr yeah - so pretty much the same message as was echoed prior to the Charlton game, where we at least had a chance of survival. Didn't get a packed house then, and when we went down fans started leaving - therefore I don't think that the Burnley game will be a whole lot different. Your last words are hopefully correct - problem is, only when SFC is back will we see all of the fans back, until then, it is the 15000 or so die-hards that will back the cause.
