Long plays Hoj in beautifully in a 1-2 but the keeper saves a close effort.

I’m not sure I agree with the Beeb’s assessment. We started off looking pretty turgid. The goal added some confidence and momentum. Defending of the high cross in the penalty area is a bit of a worry.

Davis was involved in the buildup to the goal, he played in Boufal who flicked it to Long just inside the box. There’s a scramble between Long and the defenders and the ball lands quite fortunately for JWP off one of the defenders.

I was just about to write about how Hoj is turning into a good midfielder and then he gives the ball away.

It looks like the defender played the ball with his arm. Unfortunately for Saints, he had his back to the ref and JWP may have blocked the ref’s view as well. Bednarek has taken a blow to the head.

JWP appeals enthusiastically for a handball penalty, but the ref declines.

I’m less nervous when we back pass to McCarthy. He looks more comfortable with the ball than FF.
