Pellegrino is a lucky man to have this level of support. I’d be surprised if the VVD decision led to some of his more bizarre team selections but the club seems to be deploying it as some kind of one size fits all excuse system. I’m used to talking to Canadians so the language just sounds like corporate talk to me.

I watched the Stoke game on the telly. Lots of people left early after the Newcastle goal. There were a few Hughes Out signs, chants etc. Supporters are making their views known to the owners, which can’t be good for Hughes. Like Saints, I tend to think that Stoke have a better squad than their results would indicate. I’d be shocked if Hughes survives this, but there again Pellegrino survived Leicester at home and I thought that was it for him.

Based on the City game it seemed like they used him as an outlet on the left flank on the break very regularly. He and Walker had an interesting game within a game throughout. That being said, the late penalty came from the right.

I suppose the club see a bargain in Balotelli considering he only has 6 months left on his contract, but surely Balotelli is a non-starter, if not for character issues (there is a theory that he’s matured since becoming a parent), then for the Nice president’s comments about such a move being “impossible” and “unimaginable”.
