If we had conceded a late goal last night instead of scoring it, and going when we inevitably lose games in the future do you think you will still be content with the style? For me, when we have controlled the game, that's when we have given ourselves the best chance of winning games. The press has been effective at times, but we very rarely win on the break. We have to have the ball. The midfield need to be totally on top.

That has been a problem. He just does get 'in there'. He doesn't give himself a chance of scoring, especially once he stopped shooting on sight from range. He has to do one or the other. So no sign that his confidence has been restored? Without that, he isn't valuable.

He played up front in the Palace game near the end of the season. He moved about a bit, which was unusual. Never found mind you. Biggest gripe from me was he didn't bust a gut to get on the end of great breakaway. He's not a striker. It's a no from me.

Happy to get tit bit's like this, but haven't his insights so far been based on knowing someone at the club that knows when a player is off or is at the training ground? Bit different to predicting a transfer. Pretty easy to say that we will bid for Grimes and Piroe if and when we sell players in those positions. Easy for both to bide their time too...as has been suggested targets are willing to do.

They ain't getting him for £30m, but he's younger so potential resell value. With Scimacca not working out, Moyes is going to push hard to get Prem experience, but the DoF is going to be looking for value and slightly longer term. Interesting power struggle. Moyes tenure on a knife edge.

Seems a likely candidate if JWP departs. Pings a decent ball in that video, but it doesn't show all the ones that didn't hit their mark. He has absolute hours to pick a pass too. What's the rest of his game like?

Just noticed that Norwich sold Mumba to Plymouth for a million quid. He was the best right back in League 1 last year whilst on loan with Plymouth. You'd of thought he would be Aaron's replacement. Perhaps an I dictation of just how hard up Norwich are? They signed Jack Stacey from Bournemouth on a free, so Aaron's is perhaps still expected to depart.

I missed the game (Graceland tour took longer than expected). How did AA play? Did the ball get stuck under his feet or did he look confident?

Running through the line ups of all the Championship games and I have to admit that don't know any of these players - its going to take a while to get up to speed and become familiar with who is who.
-
Not sure we will spend most of the money coming in on his replacement. But do agree the player will be `less good'.
-
Delap off and running at `ull. I think they will have a good season.
-
I really can't see Sulemana staying. Not certain we replace him though if Tella remains.

The link is just logical thinking. Swansea need to sell, we may need a striker and Martin is likely to be a fan. Piroe can discuss a move Italian clubs in January, but the move would be in the summer when his contract expires. Swansea can't afford for him to walk on a free. But they have received no bids. We are not in a position to make a bid unless we sell Adams.

If truth be told he couldn't get in the side for the najo. They got injuries and he had a twelve game run during which they won five games. He seemed to do ok, but did then lose his place for the final run in of games.

I was going to say if ABK could be added to the mix, then you would have to feel relatively content. This is the championship after all. But Id be surprised if he didn't leave. I think we need to brace ourselves for a second wave of departures.
-
I know most (not all) would like the CB pairing to be ABK and some fantastic new CB signing, but in reality, Stephens-Bednarek is perhaps as good as it gets. It feels bloody weird typing that...

He's (Bycroft) got a first team squad number. Not sure if that means anything. Maybe he will go out on loan.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/aug/03/west-hams-ward-prowse-pursuit-in-peril-amid-moyes-rift-with-steidten may explain why West Ham haven't just got the JWP deal done.
-
Standard practice these days to get the player terms agreed whilst the clubs negotiate the fee. Surprised the agent hasn't suggested Lavia go missing from training for a few days. Maybe that card won't be needed if Liverpool meet our demands today.

Didn't understand the Lis signing last year. Understand it less if we are loaning him out this year AND looking to bring a new Third choice keeper.

I've always thought he was comfortable with the ball at his feet. He does make the odd rick, which can be costly and makes you think he's bad with the ball at his feet. I've never been sure if he's any good in the air. Crosses invariably seem to find opposing strikers. CBs can't be everywhere, but does he take up the best positions? A lot of pretty average prem CBs, Steve Cook for example, have dropped down a division and helped get a side promoted. Hope Stephens can do the same.

2-2. Positives and negatives available to both glass half empty and half full types.
-
We'll have the numbers, but the quality is obviously decreasing. There should be enough to be competitive, it just falls on the manager to create a proper team.
-
Where did you get the Diallo figure from? Can't find any reports including his price.
-
Now might be a good time for people who think we have sold him too cheaply to say as such. Personally, I was concerned about his defending - he ball watched badly - but thought we'd get a few seasons to see him work that out. Not sure he is the next Bale, but would of liked the chance to find out. I think the money we got was decent. Shame Chelsea get so much of it, but the £4m fee we got him for would have been a lot more without the sell on clause
