Fair point, unless they are losing another midfielder this summer.
-
Not sure I understand what you are saying.
-
Then I am surprised. Happy though as he looked decent in the championship for Swansea.
-
For lots of reasons, he played quite well for them when given a chance, it was his first season so you'd think they'd see how he progresses this, they need squad players, he wants to play in the Prem, he wants to be at West ham... ...if they really don't fancy him, why wouldn't they seak a permanent sale rather than a loan? He's not a nipper that needs champ experience.
-
Never good to lose talented players like JWP, but still having three weeks left of the window is handy, tapered by the fact we don't have JWP enhancing our side for the forthcoming championship games...
-
Not surprised about the Downes link, again, but will be surprised if it happens, especially on loan.
-
Last year of his contract, but £8m still seems decent value for a guy that scored 28 goals last season. There is zero money in the championship right now, due to the Prem avoiding it for players by and large. Not sure Boro sell for that amount. Good guide to Piroe price.
-
Agreed. He fits into the "anyone that is good and you want to keep, will go" category.
-
Yes. Has played on loan in league 2 and league 1 over last two seasons. Maybe he was injured, but if not he might have been a better option.
-
They are 19 or 20 year olds, not kids. Not seen Abu, Payne or Simeu play, but League 2 ought not be beyond them.
-
I can't imagine we are holding out for much when it comes to these players. Finding actual suitors willing to pay them what we are, even with 40% cuts, is probably not easy.
-
Could Simeu not have played at CB?
-
Got two u21s that could have been played. Payne played last season and if Any isn't good enough to play against a league 2 side, why have we signed him?
-
We are lucky. If it closed before the season we'd miss out on JWP, Adams and maybe KWP appearances. We don't get better when JWP departs
-
Charles, Smallbone, Stu, Grimes and Alcaraz. Not convinced there is the right mix there unless Charles can be dominant in the holding role.
-
Is Grimes all that? Not convinced he will get us promoted.
-
Wonder what the loan fee is? £5m plus all his wages perhaps?
-
I always think it's tough on these league cup sides as they are just chucked together with players that haven't played or developed understanding with the others. They are always disjointed.
-
Ralph wanted him and will have recommended Djenepo got a new contract. Semmens wouldn't have made the decision in isolation.
-
Declining £40m would have been extremely tough to do. Not allowing players to join CL sides would make it difficult to recruit others of a similar ilk.
-
Just another player passing through. Not sure I'm terribly bothered. It certainly doesn't hurt like it did when Bridge departed.
-
We have several right backs already, so won't be signing another until one more departs. Could be Bree leaving of course, but that may rely on Jones getting another gig, unless Luton think he can do a job for them (which I think would have happened by now if it was going to).
-
Interesting. Never felt he was going to stay, as, like all players, he really wants to be in the Prem. He's full of confidence and will think he's just a season away from being at one of the big sides. Could a season long loan work? From a financial point of view, If he plays well, we have a £40m player. So yes. If we go up, i don't see him merging back into our side. We are a stepping stone and coming back to us may feel like a step backwards.

Funny how when we win no one remarks on how poor JWPs captaincy was/is. Basically, it matters little who is the on field captain these days IMO as the manager is nigh on the pitch directing traffic. What's more important is how senior players behave on a daily basis.
-
If he was loyal to Chelsea he'd never have joined us. Fans are loyal, but we only care about player loyalty when it suits. McCarthy is a longish term Saint but most fans want to see the back of him. I agree they all would be happy to get a move back to the Prem.
