We're not constantly under the cosh. The attack minded young players like Edozie (Mara is the only other youngster) will benefit greatly from playing games no matter how much possession/territory we have. For example. if you only touch the ball a few times, you quickly learn that you have to make the most of those chances - and be right on your game. Carleta-Car - JWP - Adams is a pretty experienced spine. Only Lavia and Bazunu are first choice. It's not as though we are dropping 8 or 9 kids into the side.

Chelsea - Rome - Southampton could almost be the livery on a three wheeler yellow van.

Question. Did we spend the Gakpo money in the last window? The reports obviously were that we made a sizeable bid, but when that fell through did we use some/all of the cash to fund Edozie, Larios and Carleta-Car moves? They all came in on deadline day. The reports at the time suggested we only found out on the last day of the window that Gakpo was staying at PSV, but that may not have been the case. Gakpo said afterwards: “It ended about a week before the end of the transfer window and in that week I had to decide if I would go to Leeds or Southampton” I am not sure if that means the dealings and his decision was done and dusted over a week before the window closed or not.

Helps a little bit though, but you are right, we still need to find two other teams worse than us, assuming they themselves go down. It should be noted that although we won the game at their place, we were so bad and under the cosh that we needed to revert to five at the back and park the bus. We are not a great side, and although we looked a little better at times against Liverpool, there is a lot to improve to get us scoring goals and winning enough games to stay up.

Did Rickie really score 15 goals for us in the first Prem season? For some reason I thought, like the side as a whole, he took a season to find his feet. I know this forum is 90% us moaning, but it's great to be able to post positively and the guy was bloody brilliant wasn't he? Finding another Sir Rickie ain't gonna be easy. If we do look to bring in a relatively big target man (although Che might be asked to perform that role possibly), then someone with his fantastic touch, ability to bully and position his body to win headers/bring the ball down and of course fantastic finishing, is essential to make up for (perhaps) lack of pace.

When was the last time united bought a player from the championship?
-
Got to say I was surprised just how confident he is and comes across. The way he talks is like a guy that knows he belongs at this level and has no concerns about players giving him the necessary respect. Obviously he could be one of these deluded souls that believes his own hype, and if he gets laughed out of town within six months that will suggest he is, but I don't get those vibes. He is only human. Like all managers, he can only do so much - the players are the ones that have to perform - but I am hopeful he will be successful here.
-
You are kidding? Watch the Salah chance that Bazunu saves brilliantly with his left hand and tell me he recovers quickly. He is so slow. A full back with any kind of pace cuts that out never mind allows him to shoot under no pressure.

saves count in both wins and defeats and do have an positive impact. The save when Perraud was sleeping and Salah just had to tuck it away was top drawer. It kept us in it. If we had scored the two great chances in the second half that save would have helped us earn a point. Should have done better with the first though. It was in the corner but he wasn't even close to it. He also flapped at another that could have cost us. He had a mixed bag of a day. He was very sharp off his line, and his passing was very good. He made some smart saves. With McArthy 32, Caballero 41, we were always going to bring in a young keeper.

Might have just been an expression of stresses and strains of the last week rather than literally not sleeping for a month. Not sure. maybe we first offered him the job a month ago and its taken until now to sort it out?

Giving up in November ain't my style.

I remember seeing the video of him jogging and doing quite challenging (looping leg over the ball) ball juggling. I thought that bode well, but I'm just not going to get my hopes up. We wont rush him back as it could end his career. Ralph said a couple of times regarding KWP that "it's very bad" - that doesn't sound good to me.

I think the term is a big bag of ball bags. Defending deep worked just fine.

Walcott did OK when he came on. Kept it simple, kept it moving forward, made some good runs and we got a couple of decent crosses in fro that side as a result. AA on the other hand is just running out of time at this level. I guess they both are. Not sure what Mara brings to the party. Not much so far.

Personally I don't think Livramento will be back after the break. If he plays this season we will be lucky. N ides about KWP. If he has torn his hamstring, he could be out for several months easily. If he does come back, I'd have him at left back ahead of Perraud and AMN at right back. It would be nice to have some options.

Not seen anything from Diallo to suggest he can score goals, unlock a defence and lay in Che, which is what we will need to do if playing in that central forward midfield role. Not sure Ely is going to grab a game by the balls though, so he may get his chance, although Aribo may be next in line. He's been shite for over a month now though, so will need to see a big improvement. Got some time to try it in training. Whether NJ will go with that formation I am not sure. Feels very attacking,
-
we pressed, were more positive, didn't seem afraid today and went for it. Just the tightening up, better performances and striker required then.
-
Very worrying as our midfield isn't the best as it is. Diallo isn't up to the job and AMN needs to play right back on today's showing. Good month to recover now.
-
Interesting that we went to 4-2-3-1. It feels very attacking. Comments before the game from the Luton fans on here was that NJ doesn't like/play wingers, but his first change put two on, which worked OK. With no strikers, makes sense to only play one. Aribo has been utter dross, so that position in the middle might be retained by Ely. Other than Walcott, I am not sure who can fill that right side -with Edozie obviously taking this left side. Shame we won't find out for a while...
-
Overall we did alright. I liked how we pressed later on in the game. That showed good spirit. I thought NJ made the change at the right time and it worked well. Five at the back sucks and we should not be playing it. AMN did well when he came on. I thought Che did a decent job holding the ball up at time. Lavia was neat and tidy. JWP looks a lot better player with hm next to him. He knows there will be a man covering him. ABK had a mix bag as did the keeper.
-
the game is won for Liverpool of course, so that has to be factored in.
-
it stopped us being even more shit against Bournemouth...other than that, has done us no favours. We don't know what we are doing defensively or attacking wise. It just doesn't work most of the time. I hate it.
-
He overstretched and maybe got his studs stuck a bit. Heavily strapped knee. Not good.
-
did we give him a contract extension in the end?
