I thought Charlie Taylor would depart on loan. Maybe hes going to play left centre back? If you cant get rid of an unwanted player now, as a cheap loan, us getting rid of that sort next summer on a permanent deal will be equally tough.
-
I wonder if there is a hefty promotion bonus (to SFC) in the loan deal? Probably not.
-
By that you mean: accept any offers we receive, even if they are below our valuation, then use those `lower-than-hoped-funds' to buy someone else?
-
and Onuachu will have one year left on his contract. I dont want to make excuses for those runinng things, but there sure will be a lot of balls to juggle.
-
Delap will be in demand, so they will likely be after a striker nerxt summer. Whether they will be interested now is to be seen.

Got to agree. What a great signing for WBA - a player that scored 24 goals in the league last season - for nothing. With their budget, it's a great bit of business.
-
Possibly, but once up, a side like WBA has a little more choice and fiancial power (not a huge amount as we found out) than they do now.
-
Who? WBA's most expensive singing last summer was aboitu £3m. Go through the Championship signings last summer and there is no money at all being spent. Burnley, Norwich, Leeds and Luton made one siging each that was close to £10m. If Leicester went down would they sign him? Ipswich, possibly?
-
Will another championship side be able afford him in the summer? If WBA went up (or any of the other promoted sides), would they spend £15m on him know how he has fared previously at PL level?

It's a strange situation - loaning out a guy that only seems to score goals in the division you will be next season. Quite simply, he has not performed since Juric got here, so it's hardly surprising that Juric has dropped him. Having gone with Onuachu (or no striker), Armstrong's opportunties in the second half of the season were going to be limited. Him being overlooked is hardly going to foster a great relationship, so the idea that allowing him out on loan is going to `piss AA off' seems a mute point. Next season, if Juric is still here, AA is still going to be behind Onuachu, so him not wanting to come back also seems mute. if on the other hand Juric departs, the new manager can welcome him back into the fold, should he want him.

On first glance Standard Leige feels like very left field, but then I read that Fergal Harkin was previously player loan manager at Man City and now Director of Football at Leige. I guess that shows just how much personal relationships come into affect with a lot of football transfers. Interesting that the Standard Leige goalkeeping coach was done for match fixing when a player at Bari in 2009.
-
Maybe we don't want him back next season too, but him departing depends on there being a buyer.
-
What happened with Charlie Taylor? Did he ever decide against a move to Hull or Watford?
-
if he isn't going to get a game here, someone else paying his wages is no bad thing, right?
-
first team squad has 31 players still (not including Edozie, Edwards, Charles and BBD). Larios and Stewart both injured, so no way we could offload them, but nine senior players don't even make the squad every week. If Baz goes out on loan, that will be 8 twiddling their thumbs, but a shame we could not shift ABK and perhaps Taylor, Fraser...
-
The money we save will come in handy when we want to loan a guy to get us over the hump next season.
-
Ah. Bummer. He was playing every week too.
-
I assuem he's also going to get a loan elswhere, unless Juric is concerned that 10 CBs isnt enough.
-
Fair point. All I could jhtin of was one from a lesser league (so the champoionship isnt a major step down) that wants to get paid a lot more than he is now? BBD signed for Sheff United last year. Weren't they nailed on for relegation? Not sure he was scoring any goals for Villareal at that point though.
-
He's been playing regularly for Yoevil. Has he been recalled because Lumley or McCarthy are injured or is a loan to a side in a higher league going to happen?
-
I see that Chelsea have recalled David Fofana from Goztepe. They will be looking for a striker. Not sure Archer or AA would fancy that move. I think Onuachu turned that idea down too in the summer.
-
on the bright side, we now have more than 10 cbs on the books, so if required, we could now field a 1-10-0-0 formation.
-
THB, Bednarek, Stephens, Wood, Edwards, ABK, Bree, Santa and now Sylla...oh and I forgot, Taylor and Aribo if needs must! Bets of luck to the lad. Its a very tough position to play in the modern game. I hope we have got ourselves a gem.
-
I guess you need to consider what the purpose of the loan is. The Grobaek loan seems to be a trial for next season. Les' loan is different because it was last summer and the aim was to stay up.

Personally, haven't see enough to forge an opinion. In the end you have to trust the manager to make the right decision. Juric isn't going to allow a guy to leave that he thinks is special, but just needs a little more time. Ultimately he might be wrong, but he won't make a decision like that lightly. Sometimes you have to let a player go. He might make it in the end, but the timing may not be quite right. We mighy have to wait another three years before he is good enough. We could offer him £50k a week for five years to keep him here and see if it pans out, but isn't making that kid of invstment that just a big a gamble as selling him?
