If Downs is possibly the striker, who is the attacking midfielder? Can anyone remind me who we have been linked with in that position?
-
Maybe he can relocate to the monkey chicken petting zoo car park? Hang on, that is part of the St Marys gentrification plan, right?
-
The championship will provide the extra time and space his crap first touch needs, so he might be effective at that level. It will be some turnaround/improvement for him to be a PL player should we get there.

I was going to suggest Maja as a possible Che Adams replacement. I thought he looked good in the Sunderland documentary a few years back. He's been around the houses a little since, but did OK last year at WBA. One year left of his contract. Not convinced he would be signing good enough for the PL.

Undesirable? If you work in these businesses or need cement for example, they are quite desirable. Cities need workplaces.
-
I believe Midfield General mentioned that he traveled to St Mary's to buy crack outside of match days.
-
ah. you beat me to it,...he was electric.

Henri Camera. My favourite loan signing by far.
-
Tremendous first half the season. Loads of goals. Did he struggle a little for form in the second half? Are the Forrest links real? I agree, he isn't making a sideways move to us.

Whether the £200m is spent on stadium seats, a hotel or a shopping centre, those assets still need to turn a profit, otherwise there is less to spend on transfers, not more. Right? That's not to say I think it's a bad idea.
-
You are probably right, but got to say, they don't feel terribly close. Not sure why they have to be that distance...or why the couldn't be a few metres closer?
-
My point was, if you bring in £2m more a season due to increased ticket sales, but the cost of the loan is £3m a season, you don't have "extra" funds to spend on transfers and wages, you have less. The finances has to be right and PL football will be a prerequisite.

I don't know Sargent's game, so no idea if he might do ok at that level second time around, but if there are serious doubts, let's take a punt on someone else that hasn't come up short.
-
Whenever I read posts saying we should sign "some seasoned pros who we know will add value at this level" or along those lines, I wonder who they are referring to? Who is this seasoned striker we are sure will be good at this level? Piroe or Sargent I presume?

makes sense. it wont be Fergurson or Vardy.

I'm guessing it will probably look better on, but in that picture it looks really shite. To be expected. Puma get about one in every fifty kits right.

You say that as though the only thing holding us back from spending mega sums on transfers and wages is PSR. It isn't. Our spending is also restricted by our total income and outgoings. Paying off a stadium loan will be another outgoing, reducing the available budget. What we are talking about here is the club taking out a £100-200m loan and then the repayments coming out of the total operating budget. Income will presumably go up, but will it go up enough to cover the approx. 8% interest rate and any additional payments that help bring down the loan? Realistically, unless we are a fixture in the PL, the figures won't add up. Solak seems to be smart businessman, so he'll know exactly what's affordable. Equally, if he wants to turn a profit when he comes to sell the club, he knows we have to be a reasonably strong PL club backed by modern facilities that combined will attract the next major investor and a price to go with it.
-
He seems to be linked to a few clubs, Everton and Celtic for example. No idea how genuine those links are, but I bet he will be very reluctant to drop down a division.
-
Juric saw him take Man United apart. Anyone that watched that game will wonder if there isn't a player there.
-
Skate. Always thought he was pretty decent though. Can't be worse than Lumley.

In April this year, yes. https://www.thewesthamway.com/2025/04/23/disappointing-west-ham-attacker-luis-guilherme-could-join-southampton/ Sort of player we should be looking at perhaps. Not quite made it yet at PL level, but perhaps too good for the championship. I've not seen hi play for West Ham. Does he has anything about him?
-
We have perhaps gone over this when we signed Quarshie, but I do find it a little strange that centre back was identified by Spors as a position that "we needed to buy immediately" (as stated by Dragon in the Echo article). Unless deals have already been done for the likes of Bednarek and they just need to be announced in July, or Quarshie is going straight into the starting side, we have plenty of bodies and plenty of young players, so why did we need another CB before selling CBs we don't want?
-
I'm wondering who the attacking midfielder might be, and whether a right sided player (winger/attacker) fits that category or is it more of a central attacking midfielder? Are we still scouting the Argentinian league? Valentino Acuna might an option in the middle - if we are looking for another 20 year old with promise. Serginho from Viborg might be an option if we are looking for a winger. Not sure he's a better option than Brooks though.
-
That seems to be the plan, unless a club pays the going rate for him. Unfortunately Turkish clubs without CL football don't have two farthings to rub together.
-
If Brooks is available - which surprises me, as he played quite a lot of games in the PL last season - then he'd be a very good signing IMO. Forget the swap deal, let's jsut get Brooks. I know many felt he blew hot and cold, but that's often the case with flair players. We need to sign some players that can offer some guile.
