Finally some sense prevails on this forum.
-
That's pretty much my take on it.
-
Apparently Sporting Lisbon have crippling debts which is why they are willing to sell off the likes of Rojo and William Carvalho, with the latter even below his minimum fee release clause. Come on Saints, get Rojo over the line FFS!

Inter, Oswald arrived in Milan 08/04/2014 - 14:07 Gianluca Di Marzio From Southampton to Inter, Italy in the fate of Pablo Daniel Osvaldo. The striker arrived a few minutes ago in Milan to support medical examinations and make themselves available Mazzarri for the upcoming season. And a new signing for Inter in the attack.

Agree with all of that.

I'm responding to an isolated comment, not the rebuilding process as a whole. I'm not getting caught up in all the spin, I have my own thoughts on where we are currently at. Of course none of us know for sure, however I would suggest that the fact we were 'close' on Friday should tell us we'll be even closer now. You chose to hear RK 'promise' us new signings, which I'm afraid to say never actually happened!
-
Fans are crying out for information then when they get it they hang on every little word (even making their own interpretation of it). Is it any wonder the club choose to stay quiet during negotiations. Football/life isn't straight forward; things get delayed more often than not, particularly complex financial arrangements. We are STILL close, probably even closer than Friday so have a little patience.
-
'Hope' being the operative word. Its embarrassing seeing all our fans winging on twitter and on here because they chose to convince themselves that we were guaranteed to sign 3 players this weekend. We were NEVER promised/assured/guaranteed.

Rodwell looks to be going to Sunderland.

My comment was more in reference to Samaras tending to play a LW/LAM role in a similar way to Jayrod (without the pace). This just doesn't make sense, we are after better strikers and now play with recognised wingers of which Samaras isn't.
-
Surely that's their whole idea with the academy player pathway?
-
I'm not convinced on this Samaras story to be honest. I will only believe it when I see it on the OS, at which point I will be thrust into a state of blind panic and pessimism. We should keep remembering that we are always going to be used as leverage by agents and clubs to negotiate separate deals on behalf of their clients (even if we hold no genuine interest) as everyone knows how thin on the ground we are, yet wealthy.
-
People on here always rubbish Alex Crook, so why believe him now?

Which is why I find it very hard to believe this particular speculation. -

I do hope not. In all honesty this would be certainly the underwhelming signing vs. Bertrand. -

I think initially he did which has prolonged the whole process, but I gather from reports that he has since changed his mind. It was during the time where he initially turned us down that Schelotto was suggested. -
Tbf they have produced a number of players that have gone on to be successful in the English system.
-
There's that global brand we were striving for.

I'm not actually convinced we will get Schelotto as well. I think its between him or Taider, though we'll sign the latter. -
This guy is the nearest thing to Leo Messi, in terms of style, if ever there was one. He'll go to either Barca or Real Madrid, I'm sure the latter has already been linked.
-
Because it would show utter ineptitude by the management team. Everyone knows we need a new striker.

I agree with that sentiment, however I'm not sure how many of them are actually that close to the first team. Although Isgrove has pace I'm still to be convinced by him, McQueen for me seems to lack a cutting edge, be it pace or trickery. Would be more than happy for them to have the chance though as that's the only way they can step up to the plate.
