Considerate of you to start your meltdown a bit earlier today. For the benefit of those going out to work? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

It's still in limbo, IMO. Yes there are reliable reports that all the formalities have been completed with Spurs, and that's probably the case. But they will still be concerned about legalities, problems with registration and that is what they are trying to get clear. It will come down in the end to what Toby wants. I'm not convinced he has a clear preference either way, but wanted to be sorted and Levy told him could be with Spurs, even though that's not necessarily true. So, with no move from Saints, that was his best option. If he does want away, Saints will let him go. The fact that we haven't stepped back and just accepted compensation makes me think this plot has more twists to come than a twisty thing in a twister. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

BTW, we're back to "within 72 hours" in the Mirror. Spurs won't confirm until they're clear on the legals. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Far from sure, and show me a definitive statement from Toby that he wants Spurs. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

That's the optimist's take on it. Les Reed is believed to have gone out to sort things. Spurs look like they've gone through all the motions of signing a player and claiming all done (even medical, but that's questionable) without the final confirmation. They're putting pressure on AM. Why aren't they confirming? Because Saints have made a better bid, maybe, and accepting that would make the legals go away. But p!ss off Spurs big time. IMO, they can't confirm until Saints agree to give up and just take compo. And hopefully we won't. And AM wouldn't do as well out of that. And what does Toby want? Allegedly a club, any club. I don't believe the fat lady has even started clearing her throat. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Once again it's the journalist's statement that Saints lack the will of Alderweireld, not a quote from him. Other reports say he's happy with either club, just wants it sorted. And that's why Spurs are trying to sort it first. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Probably clutching at straws but it does say that the dispute has to be resolved. If I read correctly it's the journalist's take on it that means compensation. And Spurs have acted in good faith on AM's word that they could sell to who they like. That directly contradicts Saints' position. Les has more likely gone to assert that they can't sell to Spurs. It's certainly not clear or it would have been done by now. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

This could get very messy indeed. Spurs looks like they intend to plough ahead regardless. Probably assuming they can walk all over a "little" club. But it's not an impossible scenario that they could complete the deal only to find, if Saints really have a case, that they can't register the player. That could drag on for half a season, even through the courts. Maybe Saints are using that to put doubts in the minds of all concerned. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Can only guess that Saints were aware of the deadline so didn't bid to take up to option before June 30, as that would probably have prompted immediate buy -out of the option in time. Interesting whether there is also a deadline for Saints exercising their right to buy: if so, assume it must be later to be within the transfer window, and hasn't passed. By waiting until after 30 June to make the transfer permanent, Saints have the insurance that it's too late for AM to revoke the clause. Spurs interest confuses the issue. Did they know of the deadline? Probably not or they would have pushed AM to cancel the Saints deal in time. So were Saints playing it very cool waiting for the deadline rather than competing? If the option had been cancelled in time, they could have fought it out. But isn't this the shrewd way? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
