  1. Right stats, wrong conclusions. You have only a short way to go to reach the depths we formerly sunk to: Pompey Norwich 14,003, Saints Norwich 14,480 but on the main board they insist many STHs stayed away and the crowd was omly 12,000. Depth achieved. The walsall attendance reflects the fact that we only had 6,000 STHs at the time. I believe you still have 9-10,000 down about 3,000 from last year. A similar fall in the coming year and you might even catch us. The 13,906 average the year after we drove the club into administration by boycotting games is only just short of your average this year of 15,757. Given that in 2003/4 you averaged 31,717 not far to go is it? The support of the two clubs is very similar what is unusual is the sheer speed at which you.ve lost support. Best thing you can do is to recognise the reasons for this so that you can halt the decline and join us back in the Prem where a warm welcone awaits you at Fratton. Hope to see you soon.
  2. Shows what you know my mother doesn't allow milk in the bedroom. Seriously mate, stop taking things so much to heart. Just don't read my posts there's only a couple a day and at least 12.74% of them are rubbish. Why do you read them? More to the point why do you respond to them? I know it must be difficult at the moment living in a Pompey area, perhaps you should consider living west of Southampton like I do in the red and white zone. Any rate thanks for selecting one of my pictures where my hair hides my sticky out ears. That was thoughtful of you.
  3. Only 14,480 turned up at SMS last night. A fourth consecutive record low. Another 356 of the hardcore have deserted, At this rate there won't be anyone left at the end of the season. And Now, The End Is Near.......... At least the last one out won't need to switch the lights off. The electricity company will already have done that.
  4. Some of my fellow skates can't spell either they have the first two letters wrong! M I D A S
  5. Down to your hardcore eh? 2004/5 30,610 Down 3.5% 2005/6 23,583 Down 22.9% 2006/7 23,556 Down 0.2% 2007/8 21,254 Down 9.8% 2008/8 16,077 Down 24.4% Soplease enlighten me why the crowds are going to stop falling. Time to realise you have got a softcore. Oh and incidently for the muppet claining to quote me, not me if you care to check.
  6. Your point is entirely factitious. It means that nobody fills their grounds and is therefore entirely pointless. In terms of empty seats per home game we hardly have a problem:- Empty seats per home game: Arsenal 297 Spurs 328 Pompey 450 Man u 602 Chelsea 687 Hull 853 Stoke 911 Liverpool 1,768 West Brom 1,865 West Ham 2,236 Fulham 2,307 Villa 2,470 Everton 3,013 Newcastle 4,755 Man City 6,325 Bolton 6,790 Middlesboro 6,933 Wigan 7,015 Sunderland 8,577 Blackburn 9,608 Southampton 16,474 The only valid part of your post relates to the size of our stadium. Yes it is the smallest, yes we do need a larger one.
  7. I can understand your interest. The 25% of last year's crowd who have deserted you this season need somewhere to go to watch football, so in all our interests, let's hope it gets built soon
  8. Ah we struggle to sell out games do we? Fratton Park League games this season 99%, 94%, 99% SMS League games this season 58%, 48%, 46%, 46% Empty seats at Fratton this season 1,653 Empty seats at SMS this season 65,896 Now which situation is unsustainable? We also have a low level of debt compared to most premiership clubs. HTH
  9. Congrats DSM. As the person with the best name on the forum you clearly appreciate that naming your unnamed grandson is of great importance. You have set a high standard. To avoid future suffering I sugest you avoid names such as Kelvin, Bradley,Rupert or even Stern, rather you should consider names such as Lassana, Niko or Sol. Probably best to avoid Papa Bouba Mills. Sylvan goes quite well. Now I appreciate you may greet my suggestions with a certain hesitation but it is your grandson's future mental health we are talking about here, the issue is future suffering and anguish. You can get the boy a lovely blue top at our Fareham store. The appropriate colour for the boy rather than those pinky red and white stripes. You know it's for the best.

    Pompey

Stu did you notice one of your own said that saints had become the Crewe Alexandre of the South. Bit harsh on the Alex don't you think?
  11. Ah yes 2004 civil disorder, God sending torrential rain on you lot and a humbling defeat for you. Who would have thought it would be such an enjoyable day for you lot compared to your next and final visit to Fratton Park?
  12. Yes we might fall a bit particularly if we progress in the Eufa but given we have about 15,000 ST holders, the average is unlikely to dip below 19,000. It is also true that you stand to benefit from some large away followings such as Reading, Wolves etc but it is difficult to see you averaging out at 19,000 over the season. this season was always going to be very difficult for you, next season some expensive contracts should have expired. Crowds can come back as quickly as they disappear, it just needs success on the pitch.
  13. I'm beginning to think you need a holiday Steve. I remember the old Steve who arbitrarily threw me off the main board yet only recently stated something like, I talked rubbish nearly all the time clearly implying that sometimes I don't talk rubbish. Now you are on here defending Pompey and demanding that the accusers come up with evidence. Look at your wrists Steve, do you see blue veins? Get some sunshine.
  14. Pompey gates 20,540 & 19,425 Average 19,982.5 Saints gates 18,925, 15,629, 14,916, 14,836 Average 16,076.5 Saints average deficit 3,906 Saints cumulative deficit over games played(4) = 15,624 Add 1 to achieve a greater average than Pompey 15,625 Average surplus needed over remaining 19 games 822.32 Projected crowd to exceed Pompey 19,982.5 + 822.32 = 20,804.82 Can't see you averaging 20,805 in your remaining games, so it does look as if Stuey's claims of easily having bigger crowds than us is looking a little rash. Glad to help.
  15. 25th August 2008 20,540 Glad to help
  16. Fraid it's gone up again Stuey with only 14,916 turning up for the Ipswich game you now need an average of 20,441 from your remaining games to overhaul us. looks like you're running out of games.
  17. I didn't say we had no history of abusing the board but that was a long time ago in the days of Gregory because the club was being asset stripped by Blue Star Garages the holding company steered into bankruptcy. Unlike those northern pansies in Newcastle we took direct action holding up the game on the pitch at half time against Grimsby and yes I was there and camping outside the chairman's home, no I wasn't there. Seemed to work. However our recent history has been to support our foreign owners and be grateful for what they've done for the club. Further back than Gregory I'll have to bow to your more intense interest and knowledge of our club. Don't think your shadow came into it much, it's not as if you achieved anything much in the top flight. It was a bit like this Summer you keep thinking the sun's going to come out but it doesn't. No sunshine no shadow
  18. Look out your window Phil. What do you see? Property development. It's what they do in Dubai isn't it. So which of the following do you think they as developers would choose: 1) Newcastle a Premier League regional team, but already developed, £200m in debt, crowd with history of hostility to the board and who want you to have KK as manager or they'll organise protests against you. 2) Pompey a regional Premier League team with very little debt, two sites to develop including one near a motorway, passionate crowd with a history of appreciation of what owners Milan and Sacha have done for them and the greatest english manager of the past decade- Harry Redknapp. 3) Southampton a local coca cola team unable even to balance the books with an already rebuilt ground built in the wrong place with a dwindling crowd having a history of criticising the board. On the positive side there is a farm to develop. Having said that I'm more than happy with Sacha.
  19. Even 20,000 a game for the rest of the season won't save you Stuey, if our average gate remains the same you need an average of 20,178 for the rest of the season to overhaul us. Of course less than that at your next home game and the figure goes up again. Thank goodness nobody took you up on the bet, if they had you might as well have paid out now.
  20. No mention of Pompey in the interview, only a picture of our proposed new ground printed by the Hebrew newspaper who also say planning permission has been granted for the new ground (you could discuss that.) Evidently the Mail's Herbrew isn't up to much. I'd recommend Davidson's Analytical Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon published by Bagster for the shemitic languages. HTH
  21. Arcadi Gaydamak lists Pompey as one of his assets, values us at £300m, says the new ground will be built in conjunction with Dubai Royal Family and that it will be in new hands before completion. This sounds entirely different from the People's made up story,
  22. Stuey, people told me you were in hiding after your rash claim that saints would easily get bigger crowds than Pompey this season, but here you are. Portsmouth average 19,925 96.6% full Southampton average 17,277 52.8% full So who has got the most fans Stuey?
  23. Of course we have not always had freedom of speach. First plea for liberty of conscience in England is 1612 Thomas Helwys who told the king so (James I) he died in prison a few years later. You largely have freedom of speach due to the English Civil War which led to religious toleration including jews. Freedom of speach didn't just happen it cost people their lives and most of them were religious. Your argument that if something doesn't breed tolerance it should be banned is one that you may wish to reflect on.
  24. Most wars are about religion, well yes, apart from WWII and I suppose WW1 and the Napoleaonic Wars and Crimea, but apart from them and er the Falklands and Korea and vietnam you do have to say pretty much the English civil war was but then again the wars of the roses weren't or the hundred years war or stephen and Matilda or battle of Hastings but then again you're probably right. The Spanish inquisition was a bad thing. well thats my 3 in 1(see what I did there) day of posts, goodnight and here's to another Pompey victory tomorrow. Praise God!
  25. Not sure churches have much of a say in how the country is run. I'd agree with your pro democracy comments and would like to see an elected House Of Lords which would involve the ditching of 20 odd anglican bishops. Like to see the French system in schools as well. However when it comes to theories of the origin of the world I think you have to go with the guru of Dawkins namely Anthony Flew who having for decades been the leading advocate of life by chance and evolvement now considers that the mathematical probability just doesn't add up and that some form of intelligence behind life is the preferred conclusion. Can we not cope with two possibilities?
