Well, if you're as innocent as you claim, then speed cameras are all about getting something for nothing. That's Capitalism in my book.

In the evening, for us, South Today covers Oxfordshire for 15 minutes and then goes over to Hampshire for the last 15 minutes. So we always get 'our' sports news from Hampshire. However, for some reason, on Fridays we have to turn to Sky 984 to get all South Today from Hampshire or otherwise we're stuck with Oxford news for the whole 30 minutes. So, in a nutshell, BBC South does cover a very wide region but in the evenings it breaks down into more local stuff. There is a BBC studio in Oxford.

Just started reading 'Toxic Children. Lent to me by my SiL who is a teacher. The book examines why there is the perception that there are so many 'feral' children and children with ADHD and dyslexia - an explosion in numbers. I've only just started the book but it considers diet, meal times, couch potato children, children being sheltered from risk and so on. Very concerning, but I feel duty bound, as a grandparent, to consider all this stuff.

Nah - the Spanish cucumbers took care of that

It worked! Left the paste on for about 3 hours and then used a pan scourer (not a wire one) and off it came. A very very cheap and easy solution and I can now sit down and enjoy the footie and tennis with a clear conscience and a clear bog. The pan scourer is back on the kitchen sink, ready to do its proper job.

. The number of milk farmers going out of business because supermarkets pay them less than it costs to produce the milk is scandalous.

I can't think of anything worse than Sky running the World Cup TBH

Two things: A caller to a phone in on R5L last night said that governments have to sign a deal saying they will not meddle in any way in FIFA's affairs and that countries winning WC bids get tax breaks. And Warner is now saying that MBH bribed FIFA to get the Qatari bid accepted. The Australian federation is demanding the costs of its bid for 2022 be returned. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13592684.stm How much credence can be attached to Warner's statement is a moot point though.

Symptomatic of the rotten core running throughout football (think - just down the road). The whole game needs a root and branch culling.

Well the bicarb/vinegar is now a WIP so I'll let you all know how it goes. Hey - ain't life exciting!

Never been interested in rowing before but I'll never, ever forget this moment. (Sydney 2000 in case you'd forgotten)

This (or rather, these)

My daughter in law has today suggested a paste made of bicarb of soda and vinegar. She quite likes me so I reckon it's worth a try.

Are they the ones with the widget in to cool them down? Got those in Greece but never ever found them in the UK.

The shower is from a direct feed - is that the same feed as the toilets (it's the upstairs ones that are affected the most)? The water coming out of the shower and in the bogs isn't rusty - the mark that's left is. I don't think it will be the outside pipes - the house is only 8 years old But you may be onto something with the upsetting people suggestion - it could be one of the hard-line right-wingers on here I suppose. Anyway - I'll try all the suggestions so thanks everyone.

Sod that for a game of soldiers! We're looking to put the house on the market soon so I'm looking for a cheap and easy fix!

Thanks for this. I don't think the towel thing would work because the limescale is underneath the rim and so I think gravity would make the towel fall in the water. I don't think I want to try blocking the toilet. But I will try vinegar and lemon juice (after all, that's what's in most liquid limescale removers I think) but again, I think, because they're liquid they'll just drip down. I wonder if I can concoct some sort of paste with lemon / vinegar in it. We have similar problems with water pooling in one corner of the shower but the Ecover stuff shifts that because it's a flat horizontal surface so it doesn't run off. But I have noticed that the water in the shower and in the bog is quite rusty coloured. Should I worry about that?

Serious answers please, guys The water is very hard here and I'm having real problems getting limescale off the rim of the toilets (see, I know my place). I've tried everything - Cillit Bang, Ecover limescale remover etc. etc. But the problem is that they are all liquids or runny gels and don't stay on the limescale long enough to break it down. Does anyone know of a paste that will stay on the limescale to do the work? Cheers!

I loathe gin. Even the smell makes me heave

At home - we've got one of those Del Gusto machines. Pretty good stuff and the iced coffee is the closest we've found to the iced coffee served in Greece. Never go to any of the coffee chains when out but, if we can find an independent coffee shop, it's always a latte with an extra shot.
