  2. Maybe it's the operator? He does the job extremely quickly and very well. I'd recommend him to anyone. And he's there every 6 weeks without fail. I used to get fed up with fly-by-night boys who turn up once or twice and then disappear without trace.
  3. Two interesting climb-downs yesterday, I thought. Vince Cable (I had a lot of respect for him - not any more) wriggling very uncomfortably when interviewed by Paxman last night about his 'change of heart' about cuts. David Chameleon bowing to pressure re the 1922 Committee. Is the CleggOn love-in struggling already?
  4. It's not quite that straightforward Wes. And I speak from experience here as in a former life I used to let contracts like this. If a contract with a private company is in place, the contract needs monitoring. Most NHS Trusts I've worked with don't have the resources to devote to this. A lot of the contracts let these days are 'self-monitoring' but then that still requires an NHS resource to check what the contractor says is true. And then people like me (I subsequently became an auditor reviewing contracts and performance) to check up on the whole process. It sounds laborious but it's a good example of how using a private sector provider can actually be expensive in terms of resources. We do have Matrons in place in the NHS now and have done for some time. But I do agree with you about removing AHAs.
  5. Isn't it June 3rd?

  8. The guy that cleans my windows doesn't use ladders. He uses a very long-reach attachment - it's a franchise and I can't remember what it's called right now. He only charges a tenner for windows and ledges, external doors etc. and he's bl00dy good. It's called Ro-Sheen.
  9. Is this the same Royal Mail that increased its profits by 26% last year that you're talking about?

  11. And I used the word 'professional' where, exactly? Here's a gentle tip for you - read the thread closely and you'll eventually learn how debate moves on. Hey - if you've been on a First Aid Course you could be a 'trolly dolly' and earn loads of dosh! Downside? You wouldn't have time to post on here. Oh hang on - that's an upside!
