Imagine being bottom of the league and thinking “yeah this squad is good enough to stay in this league”. 😅

That said there is clearly something there with this team. We’ve put in some excellent performances and with a few new additions we could kick on up the table. It’s tactically where we’ll fall down now.

Our story this season has been a case of no backbone in midfield, no wide players to create and lack of taking chances up top.

Excellent performances against who this season?

DCC is nowhere near a front footed enough defender as Lyanco. If we're play 3 at the back then Lyanco's desire to push up and win the ball high is an asset, and before his laughable mistake yesterday, he was actually pretty good imo.

    Salisu can do that job

Ings on the bench for Villa again. A suggestion of a six-month loan deal for a decent fee has to be worth at least a phone call

He'd be perfect. But our owners would have to eat a big loan fee, plus an obligation to buy if we were to stay up. I can't see them doing that.

Breaking into the top six might be a closed shop. But winning a trophy is feasible while Saints remain in the PL. In the past 40 years also-rans like Norwich, Coventry, Oxford and Wigan have won silverware when in the top division. With relegation that possibility disappears. In the same period just one team - Sheffield Wednesday - have won a trophy as a lower division team. For me that is good enough reason to want to stay up.

I'd settle for just winning games at this point. I'm tired of the Premier League rat run, I'm tired of going to St Mary's.

  5. I think our midfield in any system is the problem.

There's no room for powder puff any more, as Liverpool are finding out to a certain extent. They need some horrible, hard-running fuckers in there asap or they'll miss out on CL this season.

Hmm. Walker-Peters off? Livramento nowhere near returning to fitness? And/or off?

Djed Spence would be a solid move, I'd think, given his Spurs career is going nowhere. Loan with an option perhaps?

Yes please, will have a lot to prove - much like KWP when he came in

I'd like to see more of KWP at left-back. Perraud is ok, he puts in a decent ball, but I'm not convinced he has the natural fitness for the Premier League - especially not playing twice a week.

I didn’t say he is getting personal ( although people have been taking the piss out of his religious beliefs - which I couldn’t give a monkeys about ).

is there not a NJ out thread ?? After two proper games. One win and a loss against a form team.

he needs months. Every manager does

We haven't got months mate, we've got the next five games... 😆

Look up his stats. That’ll tell you why. In fairness he looked great when he came on again Leeds, but barely had a look in this season

All he's done aside from that pass vs Leeds is jog around lazily. If we added his fee to our super mega bumper summer warchest, who knows what superstar SR might have unearthed?

Just to bring the mood down a bit, has anyone considered some of our better players may leave in January? They can’t be enjoying this anymore than we are, some will have aspirations to move onto better things better Including international selections etc which will be seriously hampered by our current situation and seriously threatened if / when we are relegated.

Who? ABK and Lavia will be on the way out whether we're relegated or not. Those two and KWP are the only players I'd be arsed about losing.
