  1. Calvin L becomes a free agent tomorrow, would he be a cheap option for next season. Surely, he would take charge in that league.
  2. I am more optimistic. WS has a much bigger following than most managers. Will he take off running (one could hope) but realistically he will need time. However, I think (merely speculation) that it's more likely he will leave us for more ambition than we sack him. Almost like a RK all over again. Someone like Everton or his well known favourite club West Ham will sneak in when we show signs of success. However, we are soo bad and lack in ideas, quality, structure, originality and so many other things that getting used as a stepping stone means some of these things would be resolved so I'll take it.
  3. I ran into Spurs in bmouth airport (the year Poch left Saints for Spurs) as they had played Bournemouth and assumed they were heading back to London (short flight) then two months later ran into Man City at Bournemouth Pier and my 3 year old had a sun glasses comparison with YaYa Tore which was a family highlight.
  4. I like that he is 32 which is probably why he is so eager to win. He shoots from his hip right or wrongly. Older managers don't commit to an idea and try to stay mutual whereas as he doesn't come across as safe. He's eager and hungry to win at whatever cost including adaptability. Iny opinion we haven't had that since poch.
  5. "Will Still's Got Us Buzzin’" Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na... Will Still! Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na-na-na... Top skill! He’s got the Saints playin’, Fast and thrillin’, never stayin’ still — Will Still! Young and fearless, smart and chill, Running things at St Mary’s — what a thrill! We’re marching on with Will in charge, Southampton’s dreams are gettin’ large — WILL! STILL! WILL! STILL! (Sing it loud now!)
  6. "Will Still's Red and White Army" (Chorus) Ohhh Will Still, he’s got the Saints playing fine, From Belgium to the South Coast line! Tactically slick, passion and pride, With Will at the wheel, we're on a ride! He’s young, he’s bold, he’s got the flair, Premier League? We’re getting there! Sing it loud, sing it true, Will Still, we’re backing you! (Repeat: "Will Still’s Red and White Army!") Clap-clap — Clap-clap-clap "Will Still’s Red and White
  7. If he was a player we would say march on. If you don't want to be here we don't want you. Fighting for him regardless of what they are saying would be easier if he was acting like this was the club for him. Keeping his options open isn't someone you want to pay a fee for to get him released from a contract.
  8. I don't understand why people are against him. He's proven in other leagues (although not the championship or premier league) new ideas need to start from somewhere (Crystal Palace just won the FA cup on a gamble manager). He has to be decent if Reims were willing to pay 22,000 each time he managed a match. People are stuck on the same names that have stories of being successful in the league but all those managers have also been relegated or been sacked not to mention who knows if they want to come to a crumbling team like us at the moment. I just think it would be nice to be the team that takes a gamble and potentially pays off. People would likely give him a bit more time. Whereas a manager who has been there and done that will not get the time needed and people will be very quick to turn. To be fair I'm surprised Leicester aren't linked. I don't think there is a right or wrong as we are shyte and it needs to get a lot right if we have any chance regardless of manger. Being able to trim the squad down and add quality without bloating the squad again is just as big of a job as hiring a manager. However, the inside has been a overhaul of changes so why not go with a wild card manager. As always IMO.
  9. I think Still would be worth going for as he will cause people to ask questions. Managers won't have many clues to go by. Other teams have taken gambles (Bournemouth, Brighton etc) and others have gone with the been there done that (west ham) which hasn't gone down as they hoped. Then again it worked for Everton so being in the right place at the right time comes to mind. For me it would be a fresh of breath air to try something different and see if we can finally be the team that people think struck gold (like Brighton). It may not work but trying something predictable for me is a bigger gamble as people will judge them harsher and quicker. Clearly just an opinion.
  10. Took my daughter to the game and we both were relying on our lunch to be the best part of our day but actually we left the game with a sense of pride. It wasn't pretty by any means and listening to people shout "go forward" clearly haven't been following the Saints all year but the players showed they care. Clearly the plan was to support one another, don't leave anyone hanging and stay focused from start to finish which I believe they did. If we would have played how Pep and Dias wanted us to, we would have chased every ball up to the halfway line, got exhausted by the 20th minute and they would have score by the 30th minute and we would all be thinking here comes the rugby score. If we can't organise ourselves to go forward and yet defend against a teach such as Leicester how the hell would we do it against Man City. Anyway, thank you Saints for putting it all on the line for us today and making it a good day out.
  11. I disagree, yes there were moments of miscommunication but that is always going to happen especially when needed to act on reactions. You could tell how trained they were to hold tight rather rather than disperse. Each time Saints had almost everyone on their side, someone had to take a yellow in order to slow them down and stop the threat from the counter attack. Clearly the danger were the crosses so they double teamed which caused them to pass it out front which led to nothing( surprising how few attempts they had from distance). Pep and Dias complain that we didn't try to play but we don't have the team to play. If we come out, we lose our shape which is exactly what they want and need most teams to do. So as I said, miss-communicate at times yes, organised yes but got a well deserved point.
  12. As I've said previously, I think we need someone who wants a clean slate, full of ideas and most importantly wants to be bigger than Southampton. Normally, I'd be worried if they want to use Southampton as a stepping stone but on this occasion I'll take it because if we are a stepping stone he has to be successful. I still stand by my idea of Still as he is the only stand out candidate who wants to be bigger and is an unknown.
  13. I think Will Still has more to prove and although a gamble it would be worth taking, so although controversial I think he would feel he has just as much to lose as Saints if not more. He wants to be a big manager, he has earned the respect of many for what he has already done but needs to prove he can do it in England if he wants to one day manage a 'Big Club'. Personally he could take less risk than taking on Saints as we need a complete rebuild. But I think his desire to prove himself and eagerness to be the next big thing could only work in our favour until he becomes too big for us but hopefully by the time he does that we are a better complete team. Whereas Rohl has a reputation regardless of what happens and in someways has an excuse for his shortcomings coming into the role. (club falling apart etc) I am not convinced he has the same all or nothing pressure that Sill has but obviously this is my opinion.
  14. Its a dammed if you do or don't situation. We need a manager so that they can start building a plan with their preference for the following season and can start the rebuild asap but that means potentially making a rash decision and regretting it. If we wait we limit the impact a new manager could have on signings and lose the interest of interested managers as there won't be time to influence the outgoing and incomings and in which case could be too late to get the manager we would want. So all in all its crap either way with little chance of a silver lining ATM.
  15. Manager Premier League wins at Southampton Ralph Hasenhuttl 47 Ruben Selles 2 Nathan Jones 1 Russell Martin 1 Ivan Juric 1 Simon Rusk (interim) 0 Pretty depressing when you think about it.
