  1. I think the saddest thing is how we have become a club without any stars or players that other clubs would love to have. I look back over the decades and think with affection of so many great players who graced the Dell and later St Mary’s. From Reeves to Osgood to Hollywood to Pahars to Mane to Shelton there hundreds of happy memories. Sadly I can’t think of a single current player whom I will remember in the future. Recruitment has been dire and selling our Crown Jewels criminal.
  2. Two down and still playing slow ponderous pointless short passes across the back. Absolutely no ambition, no drive, no enthusiasm. Just watched P….y for a couple of minutes. They may be losing to the top team but far more energy and far more inspiring. Where did it all go wrong for SFC?
  3. Is relegation now inevitable unless we buy a proven ( and expensive) goal scorer?
  4. Offf the wall idea I know but why not give THB a go at centre forward. He seems to have lost the plot in defence but he’s big and strong and has headed a couple of goals. He wouldn’t be worse than the other CF options would he???
  5. Perfect accurate summary. I really enjoyed watching us play for the first time in many many months. I agree about Downs who sadly seems completely ineffectual. However we do need a big string centre forward who can head well and disrupt defences. Am I alone in thinking HarwoodBellas could be made into that role? I don’t think we have anyone else on the books who might thanks to our policy of not recruiting a decent central striker with any of the £80+ million obtained from selling our best players.
  6. Let’s face it Pompey have a good manager who knows how to get the best out of average players plus a couple of very good players. Of course we sold out good players.
  7. Do we have any good players apart from the we man?
  8. When he hasn’t fallen out with his manager Ryan F is a real asset. He busts a gut, harries and hassles, is strong and masses of experience. Let’s stop knocking him and try loving him.
  9. To my view the Spaniards are all over us. We seem just as toothless as ever but worryingly seem to have reverted to pointless sideways and backward passing in our own half. Come on Saints.
  10. The strangest thing is that 31000 rational human beings turn up game after game to experience misery. If we belonged to a trade union we would be out on strike until management offered better terms. Withdrawal of our labour would concentrate their minds. ( just watching the fabulously entertaining Notts Forest. Look how they are doing with an average attendance 2000 lower than us.)
  11. Give him the job for the rest of the season. They really played for him.
  12. Don’t knock Netley Central! Had some great wins against the Saints on Good Fridays in the 1960s
  13. What a pity we had to put up with an obstinate manager with a crazy game plan for such a long time. I don’t mind if we go down playing proper football. This is so enjoyable.
  14. All I ask of my football team is that the players give their all and they put themselves on the line to defend their goal. On top of that I would like there to be occasional wins and an entertaining style of play so that match day is looked forward to. The worst situation would be no wins, boring pedestrian football and no determination to keep out the opposition by defending bravely and not taking any unnecessary risks. That’s all I ask. That is the manager’s job to achieve whatever the quality of his team. Does anyone agree?
  15. It seems that no matter how dire our situation the present manager will keep his place. so let’s accept that fact and look if there is anything he can do to salvage something. I think there are signs of improvement in forward play which needs to be praised. We’ve actually created some chances and scored some goals. This has happened by playing forward at pace through some good passes and energetic running. Keep that up! But one simple change might save us. Alex is our best goalkeeper so play him regularly but forbid him to do any short clearances. They have caused our bottom position. A well placed clearance gets the team moving forward. Then we can do the passing game RM loved but let’s do it well outside our penalty area. Hope for a miracle from the Saints. 😊
