  1. I can only deduce it is an instruction from above.
  2. Maybe sports republic and the Magee are watching United take city apart and realise finally that possession based football such as we have played since Martin came is NOT the answer and is generally very boring to watch. Give me fastcattacking play any day.
  3. Exactly this. In plain sight for all to see. I watched bits of all last night’s prem matches and no team plays walking pace sideways and backwards football any more. It is uber boring to watch and doesn’t work. Even the likes of West Ham and Burnley and Wolves played entertaining football and were in with a chance in their respective games. Good teams pass the ball to arrive just in front of an advancing player to create momentum. Apart from Leo (and Bragg) we rarely see that. Most clubs use throw-ins to generate momentum. Ours invariably take for ever, no one comes looking to receive the ball and meanwhile the opponents can regroup and defend. There is a complete lack of urgency and that is what will get us fans excited and the opposition rattled.
  4. That is a great shout. I noticed how Bragg has a play forward mindset while all aground him walk around and instinctively pass backwards or sideways. Our style of play last game was unbearably boring and pointless until late in the game. Would like to see THB up front to give height and heading skill. He also has a decent shot on him and can get in among the defenders with a bit of aggression.
  5. If only we attacked like Brentford. The only comparison is the shirts.
  6. Anyone think we can win tonight?
  7. Boring sideways boring babckward oops nearly a goal sideward that’s chancy repeat ad nauseam
  8. I can only think you are right. Why in the world have we relapsed to the pointless sideways and backwards style of play that brought RM's reign to an end. For a few games (almost a memory already) we were bright, determined, forward running and passing and a joy to watch. And it got results.. Has the manager be instructed to play only 'Man City very lite' football with our inadequate players. I salute Leo- he is wonderful- but his energy and inspiration and all round 'goodguyness' are going to be squahed by this boring pedestrian style. (Worse bidders will be in for him like a shot )Please Tonda stand up to them (whoever they are) and get back to the exciting Saints traditional style football with fast wingers and plenty of exciting opportunities up front to take the pressure off the defenders and try THB as a central sriker with Arma alongside.
  9. We never took a grip on the game arguably because Coventry are a much better side than us even with two reserve centre backs. We are at our worst when we pass backwards and invite disaster and at our best when our quick and skilful attackers stream forwards. We are certainly missing Fellows but we need the ‘we can win this’ mindset rather than ‘let’s build laboriously from the back’ nonsense. I had hoped the new manager would see that or is Russball a clause in any new manager’s contract?
  10. What has happened. Why have reverted to Russball XL every time we have the ball at the back. It’s just a matter of time until they score.
  11. Maybe one day someone will agree with me that we shoukd play THB as a central ron Davies style striker.
  12. I feel very sorry for Will. He appears to be a decent bloke but who is not yet equipped for the job. In his post match interview he sounded broken like a young teacher who has just been dismantled by year ll louts and is now lost and hopeless. It’s not his fault. He has a mediocre team of largely disillusioned players and he doesn’t seem to know how to deploy them effectively. Trying to win anything without a decent striker is nigh impossible so that’s down to club policy not him. It’s a fair comment that we have been permanently damaged by one of our recent managers so that playing pedestrian aimless football is now in our DNA. Watched Wrexham last night. What a team. Everything we are not and a great striker. Amazing that we beat them many moons ago. How we have fallen! I wish Will but we need a new manager who has experience and the presence to get the players and fans on board , that will do it his way not the Board or anyone else and a nice all who is confident enthusiastic and talks sense. Must be someone out there who can turn this sound before attendances drop any further and our position becomes hopeless.
  13. I think the saddest thing is how we have become a club without any stars or players that other clubs would love to have. I look back over the decades and think with affection of so many great players who graced the Dell and later St Mary’s. From Reeves to Osgood to Hollywood to Pahars to Mane to Shelton there hundreds of happy memories. Sadly I can’t think of a single current player whom I will remember in the future. Recruitment has been dire and selling our Crown Jewels criminal.
  14. Two down and still playing slow ponderous pointless short passes across the back. Absolutely no ambition, no drive, no enthusiasm. Just watched P….y for a couple of minutes. They may be losing to the top team but far more energy and far more inspiring. Where did it all go wrong for SFC?
