  1. Go on, demand, you know you want to. Hee hee. Hate to say it, but the continued instability you're describing sounds like an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) rupture. Let's hope not, but this is the thing I'd be asking the GP to consider if I were you.
  2. Good post. I heard march 26th on the radio last night - coicides with my Dad's birthday that's why I remember it.
  3. I think you both missed Scudamore's important two letter word. Might want to read the post properly before posting clever replies.
  4. Not necessarily, they may have "medical history disregarded" policies. Much cheaper to get it through a company group scheme, but I suspect this isn't an option for you (and if it was, I'm assuming you didn't elect it and can only renew an anniversaries). It's pretty pricey otherwise unfortunately - when I was between jobs a few years ago it cost me about £40 a month to retain my BUPA cover as an individual. Assuming this is around the knee, best to wait and see what the doctor says - a consultation with a specialist may be a much shorter waiting list than any potential surgery (sorry if I misled you here)
  5. Well good luck with that. As I said, GPs aren't very helpful (for sports injury). I'd say a "succesfull" visit will be to get a referral. I hope you have private medical cover as this will save you a lot of time. You can still get (the same quality) treatment through the good old NHS but you may be waiting weeks/months just to see a specialist.
  6. What's the latest Steve? Having been through an horrenous knee injury myself (12 months out of football following partial ACL tear/reconstruction and grade 3 MCL sprain) I may be able to help. What kind of scan were you given at the hospital? I suspect it may have just been an X-Ray to check for fractures. You need an MRI scan to diagnose soft tissue (ligament) damage. You may have been given various movement tests (Lachman, Pivot Shift etc) to check the state of the cruciates, but even these can miss a partial tear (they missed mine). The fact you mention the lower leg instability suggests to me something more sinister than the lateral/medial. Mine felt like it was hanging from a thread too. First thing's first - see a good knee specialist. Someone that ONLY deals with knees. GP's/Casualty staff know next to nothing about them really. I can give you the name of a good surgeon, in London mind (but if you're considering flying to Colarado...) You might like to check out http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEtalk/ - there's countless people on there who will be happy to help - found it an invaluable source of info while I was preparing for surgery/in rehab. Good luck.
  7. which renders your username somewhat ironic
