    That 2023 Review

Best Goal: Adams v Sheffield Wednesday. The goal itself was not amazing, but what it meant was more important. Up and running at a new level, new hope. Best Signing: Flynn Downes Worst Signing: Ross Stewart. Not his fault, but totally irresponsible to waste 10m in the Championship on an unfit player. Game to remember: 4-0 v Blackburn. It had all been a grind until then, now it's really starting to click. Game to forget: 5-0 at Sunderland. Think you've hit rock bottom? Just you wait..... Player Of The Year: KwP. Enjoy him while we can.
  2. Left footed right side attacking midfielder. Martin does like players to cut inside onto their strongest foot from their wing.
  3. Le Coq-Sportif making a come-back? Do like the Macron shirts to be fair. But, great memories of the Sporty Chicken.
  4. The youngest first choice keeper in the league and 5th place amongst his peers. In that basis he is doing alright.
  5. Stripes on the back as well as the front. Properly. No red or white panels, just do it correctly.
  6. Are you aware of the concept of self awareness at all?
  7. Hold on West Brom.... Make it almost perfect....
  8. That was stupid of him tonight. But he wasn't alone in making daft errors (Shay.....) It didn't effect the result, it must not be something used to beat him with in the context of his clear and evident improvement.
  9. I will say fair play Ché there. GET IN!
  10. Smokin' Joe on for Ché please. And, I don't know.... Anyone on for Manning.
  11. We are lucky bastards. GET IN CHARLY!!!
  12. We are queueing up. Getting in each other's way.
  13. Get to 50 minutes at 0-0 after Plymouth storm out of the blocks then we go for them. Fearing a repeat of the last time we played these guys in 2010.
  14. As one of those quoted, i'm happy to be wrong. But, I do not regret venting as I did at the time. We were in a very bad way, to cluster our four defeats so far this season into a single stretch must be unprecedented. Based on reading how he did at Swansea and the franchise I was worried from day one that he would be relentlessly dogmatic and single minded, it appeared to be the case at the time. Thank heavens he learned from it.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67831048 Hearts are certainly worried about losing him.
  16. Yet, as much as I loved Nigel...... Does history prove replacing him with Pochettino a correct decision? One man has managed in a Champions League Final and achieved things unheard of with the North London Yobbos, the other is now back home on the Wirrall. There are many correct sticks to beat Cortese with, but.......
  17. It was very Mike Bassett. But, it showed me he was a bit daft..... Just like that moment in Mike Bassett, where the facade dropped and it hinted at vulnerability and determination it make me root for him more.
  18. Finally just right I would say.
  19. Help Adkins already had a promotion under him by this point. I feel the same way though, really liked the way Adkins handled himself from day one, seemed modest yet capable. Martin was far more single minded from day 1. That did not help.
  20. Just looking at the stats of our season and it's been extremely encouraging seeing the attendances we have been getting this season. Taking the two most comparable seasons to this, 05/06 and 11/12. 05/06. First attendance v Wolves. 24,600. Only once did the attendance go over 30,000. V Leeds United. Otherwise the peak was circa 27,000. 11/12. First attendance v Leeds. 25,800. The attendance did go above 30,000 for a few games. First v West Ham. (32k) Brighton (31k) Palace (32k, Boxing Day) Bristol City (30k) Doncaster (30k, Start of the run in) Then The Skates, Reading and Coventry. (Average circa 32k) But, the more typical number was around 24,000. Even going as low as 21,300 v Peterborough. This season, off the back of our worst season in living memory, the attendances have been averaging well into the high 20 thousands. Lowest v Ipswich at 27,000. Highest v QPR at 30,400. 4 more games over 30,000. So, clearly, something is going in the right direction.
  21. On the basis of it being a very beneficial transfer, it probably won't happen.
  22. After 24 games, we are now 1 point ahead of Nigel Adkins' promotion winning side. Even given the weaknesses that still exist in our squad. We beat Plymouth he would be 4 points ahead. He's doing amazing work. Just imagine what he could do with a late 20's Rickie Lambert instead of Ché Adams.
  23. Even Che couldn't miss that one
  24. Hope this is a day where we take our chances.
