  1. I have been saying this for years. It immediately gives you an out ball, and secondly, the opposition is forced to keep at least one, if not 2, players back. Now that we have the speed and trickery of Scienza, it makes even more sense to have him on the halfway line. If I were the opposition, I would definitely keep 2 players back as I would fancy Scienza in a one-on-one situation with most players.
  2. Very impressive character and his background goes a long way to explain the positivity and enthusiasm he displays on the pitch. If we can keep him I'm sure he will become a Saints legend
  3. I don't think we can judge from fifteen minutes at the end of a match when the whole team looked leggy and he had Aribo alongside him. Definitely needs more match time and fingers crossed
  4. It's like having 10 men on the pitch with Aribo
  5. Brilliant finish
  6. Aribo has been poor
  7. Time for Romeu
  8. Riding our luck
  9. Fair. No wonder he headed off to Canada to fight the French, preferable and less violent than staying in Portsmouth.
  10. But can they paint or do they know Shakespeare?
  11. Romeu, Milwall ... Match made in heaven ....
  12. So, if Portsmouth win, they play Bradford in the semi-finals?
  13. I guess they will claim a victory over Southampton if they win then.
  14. Portsmouth City Council announces bid for UK City of Culture 2029 - BBC News Well, I guess if Hull is the benchmark ...
  15. I raise you Linda Lusardi and Maria Whittaker
  16. My reply was just a jest, although people will probably see it as you being a killjoy and know-it-all (crazy, I know). I agree with you that mocking Downs is not that funny and won't help his confidence or help him to find form. TE keeps bringing him on, so he must see something in him in training that is worth persevering with. I thought his moment had arrived last night with that cross to the back post, and he seemed to leap really well, however, he headed backwards to nobody, when a goal attempt seemed possible and then seemed to injure himself on landing, which sums him up at the moment, I'm afraid. I still cling to the hope that there is a good player there, but he doesn't make it easy.
  17. A shout-out to Jander and Fellows last night, both of whom could have earned MOM. Janders is improving with every match, he seems to be everywhere, wants the ball all the time and is ready to receive it, great attitude and runs all day .... he showed Downes up last night. Tom Fellows is such a joy to watch, when he receives the ball, he has one thing in mind, which is to turn and attack. He has pace to burn and has shown that he can turn inside or go on the outside, if he can add a better end product (it's pretty good already) and goals he will be unstoppable.
  18. After last night, I can see some huge factors that Still got wrong. - How on earth was Scienza not our first choice left winger from Match 1? He was playing Fraser for gawd sake. - Similarly, abundantly clear that you need Fellows on the other wing. - Still did play both after a few matches, but he kept rotating, rarely played them together and then took one or both of them off after 45-60 minutes. - TE has shown that you can play our flair players (FA, LS & TF) on the pitch together if they have clear roles and that playing them consistently has led to better understanding on the pitch. - WS set up far too defensively. TE is still playing 3 CBs but we are playing the ball forwards far more often and hitting the wings early and more regularly.
  19. You must be really popular.
  20. That is an impressive reply. He does seem like an intelligent coach. Fingers crossed it continues to work out for him.
  21. What an odd statement. If he won 9 out of the next 10 he should be given the keys to the city. 😅
  22. Oh, he's definitely done that already ...
  23. He is footballs Alan Partridge
  24. My point wasnt that the approach was wrong, just that we're not very good at it.
