  1. Suited and Booted came in along with Tropical Treat, a nice day all round with Ascot so far proving very profitable, I fancy a few tonight but will be to small stakes, dont want to lose my winnings :-) Frankie
  2. Nice start for you mate, if you win I expect a beer :-) Frankie
  3. Quieter on here than the England attack at the moment, but hey ho, here are my selections for todays mettings other than Ascot. Newmarket. 2.10 Suited and Booted 2.45 Imprimus Tagula 3.20 Baylini 3.55 The Strig Ayr 2.25 No Hubris 3.00 Tropical Treat 3.30 Lady Eclair (Nap) Cheers Frankie
  4. Final Day of Royal Ascot and if my sequence carries on I should have a good day today after a bad day yesterday. 2.30 It seems mad to oppose Hannon and King Torus in this race especially as he bolted up by 5 lengths despite running green on his debut, but I am going to oppose him with Clive Brittains' Zaidan, he was an expensive purchase but made light of winning on his debut, this longer trip should see even more improvement so it's Zaidan for me. 3.05 With Alainmaar now a non runner this looks almost a given for Harbinger, but at such prohibitive odds it may pay to back something each way. Duncan has the all important course and distance form, he ran well on his reappearance despite hanging badly (may be down to lost shoe) and he along with the lightly raced Redwood, who's form behind Glass Hormonium was given a boost this week could give some each way value. 3.50 A really tricky race with many runners from abroad and form hard to assess, so a total stab in the dark for me, I am going for Kinsale King, he has only ever run on a synthetic surface but if taking to the grass he may take all of the beating he won well in Dubai last time out and is ably assisted by Kieran Fallon, one at a big price that catches the eye is the lightly raced Society rock, he won on his seasonal debut at this course despite finding plenty of trouble in running. 4.25 Another massively wide open race with 29 runners, Laddies Poker Two has been well backed all week and must be feared, but this is a massive task after 610 days off course, so my selection is Noverre to Go, I have followed this horse throughout it's career and its record of four wins in fourteen runs does not tell the true story, he has been unlucky in running many times and could well have won many more races, he has won at the course and at the age of four could still yet have some improvement. 5.00 Submariner to carry on Mark Johnstons great form this week looks a lively bet. 5.35 a marathon race to finish the day, I like the look of Deutschland but the ground and stamina doubts have put me off him, I also really like Swingkeel who has a touch of class, but John Dunlops horses dont seem to be fully on fire at the moment so my money will go with Ringaroses , it's strange that this will be the 9 year olds flat debut, but he has been running very well since joining Jonjo O Neill, winning 2 out of 3 over 3 miles, so it's Ringaroses for me to make a winning flat debut. Good luck all, and nice work. Frankie
  5. Chris O where have you gone? you alright mate? Frankie
  6. Couple of nice price places and a couple of small priced winners saved my day, thanks evening racing Frankie
  7. A couple for tonight although i've drawn a blank for today... Newmarket: 7.35 Eywa (NAP) 8.10 Sarasota Sunshine. Goodwood 6.50 so Choosy 7.55 Fleeting Echo Ayr 6.40 Viking Warrior 9.20 Smarty Sam Good luck all Frankie
  8. A blank day...nasty... a few fancies tonight though will stick em on the usual thread. Frankie
  9. Ascot Day 4, lets try and keep the winners coming. 2.30 a nice easy 23 runner 6f handicap for 2 year olds to start with, I am going for two here, I was really impressed with Mark Prescotts Hooray on his debut, he was fancied but looked as if he was pulling too hard, despite this he still managed to win nicely and must surely come on for that run, the other I am interested in, is the USA raider Tiz my Time the booking of Kieran Fallon looks significant, the horse has ran well over 5 furlongs in America, this step up to 6furlongs should suit him and he may surprise (Plus he has a good name) 3.05 A really interesting race, I hope Bullet Train comes back to form but I really fancy Green Moon he has progressed in leaps and bounds this year and won his last race very nicely, this step up in trip should bring about further improvement and I hope he remains unbeaten this year. 3.50 Some real hard luck stories in this race with Jacqueline Quest and Music Show, but I really like the look of Lady of the Desert she was most impressive last year and despite not quite showing that form this year yet, she was a little unlucky in running in the French 1000 Guineas, if she can get back anything like her form from last year she will have a great chance. 4.25 It's hard to find anything to oppose favourite Rainbow Peak, but he offers little value in what could turn out to be a very competitive race, so for value I am going for Stoutes' Kingdom of Fife, he was fancied at Chester last time out but didnt look to relish the track or the going, he has raced well in better class races than this, so if the fav has an off day, its Kingdom of fife for me to take advantage. 5.00 A marathon for the penultimate tace and one horse stands out, Mark Johnston has won this race 5 times since 2001 and he runs the ultra consistent Corsica, he ran a cracking race last time out behind the useful Harris Tweed, he was carrying top weight so did extremely well to finish third, this step up in distance will suit him and his trainer and jockey know the time of day. 5.35 Luca Cumanis Day of the Eagle is progressing nicely this year, he hung badly last time but still won and there should be more improvement to come as he is lightly raced. Good luck all, been a great week so far, better than the bloody World Cup anyway, roll on the season. Frankie
  10. A 20/1 and a 7/1 winner so after a good first day, a bad second day, day 3 was pretty good. Now for Day 4 :-) Frankie
  11. Excellent tipping, had a few quid on Rite of Passage myself and mentioned in my writeup so quite pleased, bookies I think will be a little happier today. Frankie
  12. Day 3 and this looks the hardest yet....so keeping stakes nice and small. 2.30 Zebedee hasnt looked the most straightforward of rides, but for Hannon to saddle just one in this race when he could surely have had a few must be a sign in itself, he won on his debut as expected then won an easy race over this course and distance last time, lets hope he continues his unbeaten run. 3.05 Pipette ran a cracker behind eventual Oaks winner Snow Fairy last time and in a line through that horse he has the beating of 4 of todays opponents, hopefully the tongue tie and extra two furlongs will see her improve further still. 3.50 An absolute corker of a race, Manifest has been talked about as a possible star, his last run looked truelly impressive, one horse that has impressed in the past is Ask, he had a terrific season last year and more importantly he has won on his last 3 seasonal debuts, so it's Ask for me, with a small bet on Rite of Passage, who is an unknown quantity, winning both his starts, the second in superb fashion. 4.25 An impossible looking race to figure out, so two against the field, with a weather related theme are Black Snowflake and Cumulus Nimbus 5.00 Afsare will be well fancied to take this after his thrashing of Wigmore Hall last time out, but I really like Quadrille there was alot to like about his last win and he seems to be improving with each run, hopefully the queen will be smiling by 5.05 5.35 Dandino has done me a treat or two this year so I am not about to desert him, he comes from a less fashionable yard but they must love him after he won last time making it a hat-trick of wins, he overcame trouble to win and hopefully the extra two furlongs will not inconvenience him. Right, I hope day 3 is better than day 2 (except for ChrisO who managed to do OK) , good luck all. Frankie
  13. I agree with you on this one mate, I also fancy 6.40 sumerian 7.40 The shrew 8.10 Arteus 8.40 Two O Clock John and Wightgold (Dutched) Good luck Frankie
  14. Terrible second day for me, but still a couple of days to go. Frankie
  15. Right Ascot day 2 selections. 2.30 Have to agree with Kip, Free Judgement has had his form franked by Canford Cliffs and will be a popular choice to take the first race. Selection: Free Judgement 3.05 A corking race with Strawberrydaquiri and Antara fancied for Stoute and Godolphin respectively, but I fancy the all conquering Hannon yard to continue its good form with shamwari Lodge, she is unbeaten this season and looks to have progressed quite a bit, she shouldnt have too much trouble with the course, her one run here saw her finish second. At a larger price Alsaice Lorraine could spring a surprise, she has C/D form and James Fanshawe has won this 2 out of the last four runnings. Selection:Shamwari Lodge Each Way:Alsace Lorrainne 3.50 Byword will be a warm favourite after finishing second to Goldikova last time out, but I fancy Cecil's Twice Over to push him all the way, he didn't perform in Meydan but is better than that and can hopefully bounce back to form and improve on his fourth place in last years race. 4.25 My tip, get a pin stick it in and see what happens, my two against the field are St Moritz and Harald Bluetooth. 5.00 Every Saints fan should be on this selection, Swiss Dream won nicely last time out despite showing greenness, he has a great chance in a wide open race, having the assistance of Ryan Moore is a bonus. Selection:Swiss Dream 5.35 Real pig of a race to get an angle on...my very tentative selection goes with Dunlop's Mudaraah, his horses often improve for a run, he ran well in the Oaks despite being hampered and can hopefully take a part in this race. Selection: Mudaraah Cheers all, dont feel quite as confident as day 1 but you never know. Frankie
  16. Good work today fellas, after thinking it was going to be a frustrating day of seconds (Paco Boy 2nd 11/4 Markab 2nd 14/1 Elzaam 2nd 3/1) but then Junior came good at 17/2 and in a tricky finale I managed to tip the first and the second against the field (Marine Commando 9/2 Petronus Maximus 20/1) which I dont think is bad work :-) lets see if we can carry it on tomorrow. Frankie
  17. Unfortunately I have work tomorrow, so will be unable to see the top quality racing...here are my selections though. 2.30 A brilliant race to start proceedings, there are question marks about Rip Van winkle and despite Goldikova being a very consistent and talented filly, Paco Boy has been massively impressive in two runs this year winning very easily, he looks to have improved with age and can follow up last years win. One to look out for at a big price is Dalghar, he is a talented animal and may well casue a shock. Selection : Paco boy . Each Way :Dalghar 3.05 A case can be made for most of the runners in this 5f sprint, so my tentative selection will go to Markab, he seems to have really improved this year, his last run in Ireland was impressive, this trip is a furlong shorter than he has been winning over but he has the speed to cope with that and will hopefully make it a hattrick. Selection:Markab 3.50 If in doubt go with the unbeaten animal...alot of these have run against each other this season and through all form lines Makfi comes out on top, he will surely win again unless something else has improved significantly, so it just has to be Makfi to maintain his unbeaten tag. Selection:Makfi 4.25 Possibly more of a watching brief with so many unbeaten animals in this race, but my selection and it is to minimum stakes is Michael Jarvis' Elzaam, he won his debut in nice style beating 15 opponents, the form of that race has stacked up well with the second and third both winning since and others have ran well too, he will surely come on for the experience and he has followed the same route as last years winner Canford Cliffs. Selection:Elzaam 5.00 I really fancied Aaim to Prosper last time out but he ran a strange race and is probably best watched at the moment, the horse I really like the look of is David Pipes, Junior, he was very useful when last seen on the flat in 2007, winning 2 of 3 races, he has been jumping since so will have no trouble with fitness and can take this race. Selection:Junior 5.25 If this is the race you need to get a winner in to save your day, god help you, my two against the field are Marine Commando and Petronius Maximus. Good luck all. Frankie
