We need 3 or 4 leaders on the pitch. Didn't have any last year, and will need them all the more in the champs. Currently we stand to get bullied at numerous away grounds this season. Haven't seen Manning yet, but hoping he might be one.

Was listening to a newcastle podcast. They reckon the £30m Livra bid from them was structured in such a way that the upfront amount payable was paltry and thats why we rejected it. They reckon a new bid will be made with higher amount payable up front and also going up to £40m. Might be BS, but thought I'd pass it on

Exactly this - none of the current CBs fit this style. We need to replace them all if we want CBs who are happy with the ball at their feet, playing passes etc.

West Ham fans on KUMB seem to think it is more than fair. Take this comment for example: I Think 17m is a good starting point for JWP. Can easily see us doing that. From what I have seen in preseason, we haven't shaken the losing mentality or gained any spirit and mostly still the same old problems going unaddressed. Really hope to be proved wrong.

It's 42.5 million. 7.5 million less than we apparently want. We'll see what happens, but no need to get overly dramatic. Just pointing out we can push the price up further. They obviously want him. They'll pay more.

Agreed - we need to sell him, not disputing that. Doesn't need to be for the amount being offered and doesn't even need to be this year (but obviously will) I'm hoping Chelsea will be spurred into some action.
