Back a few years ago, I'm talking the Chris Nicholl days and onwards, I just have a recollection that we were always primed for a late goal against us. It always seemed to be our thing, often able to hold on to a lead until the final minutes and then just capitulate, leaving the ground yet again bemoaning throwing the 3 points away. WGS seemed to bring some defensive stability to us, which was probably a turning point (at least in my mind).

So, by definition, if something is expanding (i.e. getting bigger) how is it doing that without occupying more space?

I still don't understand it. The universe is suppose to be infinite, yet there is an estimation of its size. And the universe is supposed to be "everything"; if that's the case, and we know it's size, what is outside of the universe? Plus, its widely accepted that the universe has been expanding since the Big Bang; anything that expands needs something else to expand into, so in the case of the universe expanding, what is it? My brain hurts when I think about things like this.

This is going round in circles. Best to leave it and agree to disagree. I'm obvously right,though......

Of course its right now. It has to be. You can't go back over a few seasons, otherwise you rule out players who've been good in this league but either gone off the boil, or who have been promoted. And you're ruling Lambert out from your selection criteria simply because he hasn't played in this division before. Any poll of best player is going to be on a right now basis rather than looking at previous years. Otherwise the question would be "who has consistently been the best player in the Championship over the past 3 or 4 years". That isn't the question being asked. It is "who is the best player", as in of today.

Honestly? Right now I'd say van Persie. If I was putting together a Premier League XI they'd perhaps play up front together, but RVP's record this season has been incredible and he's been (for my money) the best striker in the league by some distance. So if I had to say, who is the better player, right now I'd say the Dutchman. Of course, this typE of reasoning means that opinions can change quite regularly.

Well I'm sure I don't understand that logic. Its all very well having been good in a certain league over previous years. But any poll of "who is the best player in the league" relies on current form, not past form over previous years. Its a bit like saying Frank Lampard is the best player in the Premier League right now, as he's proved it over so many previous years.

Did the Football League get their awards wrong then? Someone should tell RL he needs to give his trophy to Peter Whittingham, if that's the case.

Correct. Around 70% of the nicotine "withdrawal" effect has gone after 48 hours without smoking. 100% has gone after one week off cigarettes. Great stuff. Pretty much every time you've made a prediction its gone spectacularly wrong. A good omen for the Saints. And I'll happily meet that bet.
