Love how the other Twitter Slug agent_itk has gone quiet after saying earlier today that Jay Rodriguez definitely wouldn't be signing for Saints today...hate how people just believe people without checking out if they have any credibility. Fourth Official is just across loads of twitter feeds and fan sites to get news before its officially announced which seems ITK to most people, but a lot of it never happens or was so bleeding obvious. Imagine De Bruyne will play part of pre season at least with Chelsea and they will assess their squad before loaning him out.

Premier League Experience - Required or Overrated?
Saint Charlie replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Fox, Cork, Davis and Chaplow all have some limited experience of the Prem but I was thinking more of someone who has played a lot of games there or indeed in another top European league. -

Was linked in a report a couple of weeks ago and then promptly scored an own goal vs Scotland. -
Our current squad is light on meaningful Prem experience, I know a few players have played there but fleeting rather than the norm. Massive fan of our recruitment policy of young hungry players, very much the way to go. Jay Rodriguez is a fantastic start to the summer and I'm sure there will be more where that came from. In addition, would anyone like to see perhaps one more experienced player come in? The likes of Danny Murphy and Matt Upson have been mentioned and I don't mean specifically them but is Premier League experience important to have within the squad or overrated? I think the right player could really help some of our young players, perhaps a centre back or central midfield player (doesn't have to be a 90mins every game player or even very old but just know what the League is about). I certainly wouldn't swap our squad for West Hams but they will probably have close to 2000 Prem games between them whereas we might scrape 100?

More of a Berbatov IMO haha.

Afraid not. His father is perhaps unsurprisingly, Spanish.

Got a big northern contingent now...Rickie, Chaplow, Sharp, Jay, Richardson, Fox. Should help him settle with old Burnley mates as well.

Is this 5.30 announcement from the club or just Simon Peach saying he understands JR is now a Saints player, which we pretty much know already?
-
Haha. The kid who took it spoke to JR. It's definitely him.
-
You can tell it is JR from the pic.
-
That agentitk guy is just another WUM, always has been.
-
It's about now that Fourth Official sees it, says JR has signed, and then looks ITK.
-
Photo does look interesting...

Lambert is so crucial to our game. He will play with Rodriguez rather than instead of.

We definitely need a new right back for next season. -
True. He did tell me that the Everton story didn't come from JRs agent so must be something Nixon has chosen to release at this time. There clearly is a long standing Everton interest but clubs are keen on loads of players. Long and short is we are in talks with the player having had a bid accepted and Boden thinks he will most likely come here, and he rates him very highly as a future England player, thinks 7m is a bargain. Also rates Cork highly (great attitude) and believed Fox to be the best Championship left back.
-
Also said to me that JR is big mates with Cork. Says Nixon usually right with stuff but has always been Everton interest but they need to come up with an offer.
-
Rhodes being quoted at 7m and he is less proven than Rodriguez with a poorer all round game.
-
Everyone taps players up. He is free to leave Burnley so his agent will rightly be well aware of who is interested and at what price. I'm sure his agent gave us feelers that a deal could be done and likewise with Fox, Cork, Sharp etc.
-
Can never say never but I would bet you £100 Everton stay up? At least 10 more likely teams than them to go down whereas we will be favourites or thereabouts.
-
Burnley didn't make an official announcement and haven't done at all. It's the agents that leak it to the press as a way of hurrying up other interested parties. The timelines of his holiday haven't helped, but we are still the only team to have agreed a fee so must still be in the box seat.

Article from five years ago. Pay would have risen since then. Even if not 80k Evertons wage bill easily 3 times ours. They will certainly compete on wages. Lts hope we have sold the club well to him.
-
Everton can offer those things too with no threat of being in the Championship next season. Adkins would be gutted if it falls through - JR has been his top target for two summers!

He is the one who wrote the Star article.

This rumour was in the Daily Star. Green is probably one of a number of keepers we are looking at.
