  1. Just in from Ewan Murray of the Guardian: "Southampton interest in Kris Commons but no more than an inquiry so far. Intriguingly, Rickie Lambert just the sort of striker Celtic want.." UPDATE: "I'm well aware of Lambert value to Saints, of course. Commons had great value to Celtic not so long ago, sharp fall from grace"
  2. Does it matter how good he is compared to those three? AGAIN, they are NOT the only three players in the world.
  3. Have just read that he'll head back to Japan as soon as he finds out about his work permit. So if he does sign, who knows when he'll play his first game.
  4. Unfortunately, they don't all suffer from a lack of knowing what offside is most of the time, they can control the ball nine times out of ten and I'm sure many don't sulk as much as our Guly. He's a flawed player, and he's been here for well over a year, so it is concerning. Is he **** though? No, that's going a bit too far. Back to Tadanari Lee... Dunno if it's been mentioned elsewhere but he was very close to agreeing a deal with Hertha Berlin. They're no mugs.
  5. Didn't know you could go much further back than Bournemouth!
  6. He always gets released on Football Manager. Maybe it's a sign.
  7. Added to the fact that I cannot imagine for one minute that we have anything like the following needed to sell shirts to the level people are thinking over there. It's fine when you're talking about Liverpool or United, but us, in the second tier? Doubt it. I think you'll also find CSKA Moscow and VVV-Venlo didn't sell millions of shirts after Honda's moves to Russia and Holland.
  8. 51 appearances in his second spell, eight goals. Can't really say he wasn't given a chance when he played 51 times can you? I do believe he is a good striker, I'd be foolish to deny it, I maintain though, rightly, he is not the only player on the earth. I also think that a Premier League club would have signed him if they had thought he was worth it. They haven't, so he probably isn't. I could see a side like Wolves come in for him - they were willing to pay £6.5 million for Kevin Doyle, who like Sharp scored a hell of a lot of goals in the second tier, but in the top flight has hardly hit the headlines with his goalscoring exploits.
  9. Back to the thread, I like it. It's a good idea. To the tune of 'Hallelujah': TAD-a-nari, tadanari, tadanari, TAD-a-nari, tadanari, tadanari... And so on.
  10. Twice though? They paid £2 million to bring him back after his stint at S****horpe, having let him go for nothing, then decided to let him go again for half that.
  11. My point being that there are SO many others just like that, waiting to be signed up, but the fact is when our supporters hear us linked with someone like him or any of the names I pointed out, that's it - football may as well never continue, the world may as well stop turning, these are the only players out there. It is NOT the case.
  12. I'm not on the attack, I just think you are being narrow minded. Again, it frustrates the hell out of me to hear someone automatically go "I'd like us to sign Jutkiewicz". He's not the only player in the world, as I said. Guly and De Ridder's signings proved that we're looking outside of this country and we've got no problem doing so. You've immediately asked if people think, like you, that it's all about shirt sales. Just because he's from Japan, he's automatically a PR signing? Not an entirely sensible thing to say. From just watching some clips on YouTube, you're wondering if he's got the physical attributes that you believe are required over here. The amount of effort that goes into scouting a player is incredible, especially when they're playing on the other side of the world. Do you, or anyone else, honestly think that a possible signing like this which you are quite right, comes with a level of risk, hasn't been done without a great deal of consideration? As for frustrating a crowd like Guly, it's possible. What I would say is that Guly has been over here for a full year, more than that, and has had ample enough time to settle in and we know for a fact he can play well, but a lot of the time he still does stupid things or goes missing. Given this guy has been in the country a matter of hours, I'm not sure it's fair to make assumptions like that. As for taking my Messi mention seriously, come on. You know I'm not saying this guy is Messi. I am saying that Championship experience is not a be all and end all. There are a hell of a lot of players out there that have played in the Championship and been utter crap.
  13. Like a lot of others on this forum, you're narrow minded then. Would you turn down Messi on the basis he's not played in the Championship? PEOPLE, FOR GOD'S SAKE, LUKAS JUTKIEWICZ, BILLY SHARP, NICKY MAYNARD AND JAY RODRIGUEZ ARE NOT THE ONLY PLAYERS IN THE WORLD.
  14. I thought I read somewhere that he was the first choice and played up front on his own - I may be wrong of course.
  15. Yes, and yet we've even had exact numbers in terms of a fee being reported. One of them is wrong anyway. If he's been on this trip around Europe as our friend in France says, one wonders if he's done that with his agent because he's out of contract and weighing up his options, having set his heart on a move to Europe. As far as I remember, no one else has said he's here for ten days. South Today said that, and I happen to know they get first dibs on information. First choice I was led to believe, playing up front on his own.
  16. The free transfer thing is interesting. As is South Today saying he's here for ten days to train. Not heard either of those in other sources.
  17. No one here knows trousers, I think its safe to say.
  18. Ah yes, you're right.
  19. Matej Rondos? He was poor. Remember watching him for the U18s. Error after error after error.
  20. Many, many European clubs after him from memory. For a good long while too. PSG were favourites not too long ago, we may have to settle for Lee!
  21. He went to West Brom and wasn't really given a chance, I remember because a load of Japanese journalists turned up at SMS for our game against them and were turned away because they didn't have accreditation. There will be a huge amount of interest in Lee now it's been confirmed by the club, no question.
  22. For a dead bloke you sure are f*cking miserable aren't you? For the record, clubs in the top flights of Germany and France have tried to sign him, or are you such a bloody hermit that you aren't aware of life outside of the Premier League - or perhaps the New Forest?
  23. Just had some Brighton tosspot dishing it out on Twitter. Said Lambert is 'a diving w@nker'. I replied that he must have been taking lessons from Brighton. He didn't like that.
  24. He's a skilful player, he won't be HOOFing it.
