The club had a great chance to have a reset after Jones. Sacking him in the manner they have is akin to them holding up their hands and admitting they messed up. If they go with Selles then saints fans will blame them for a second time once it inevitably fails and the club will have pretty much given up and accepted relegation. If the club go through with this then why should any supporters pay any more money for the rest of the year? If Sports Republic aren't going to bother trying till next season then what's the point?

Since when do a group of failing managers get to dictate which manager they have coming into manage them? The majority won't be here next year anyway so what they think of a new manager really isn't of any great importance.
-
Well yes but that isn't saying much. I'd take Rooney over Nathan Jones but that doesn't mean I think he's in any way suitable to be our manager.
-
Oh right when he got pissed up and was photographed passed out with some social media influencers? Or when he started talking about his tiny cock in his team talk to dc United? (which incidentally he has an horrendous record at.) He had a decent season of form in the championship for one season with the pressure off and nothing to play for. In my opinion he's a horrible disgrace of a man, cheating on his wife numerous times and basically being a bit of a thick chav. I'd have a similar dilemma to Jones if he came here in that I'd support saints but I really wouldn't want him to do well because I don't like him.

I honestly don't get why so many people seem to think he'd be good. Seems bizarre to me.
-
If he was in any way good we wouldn't have been so awful for so long. The players need a change of direction with someone fresh, not a continuation of what hasn't worked with someone who was already here. With how this is playing out, it seems like Sports Republic want a yes man or certainly someone that will do what they instruct them to do. Depressing.

What gives you that impression of Rooney?
-
That's clearly bollocks.
-
Oh dear oh dear. Something seriously wrong at our club.
-
My initial thoughts are that his kind face and glasses remind me of Adkins. For that reason he's a better pick than others we coukd go for.

It's not concerning at all. Why would it be?
-
It really doesn't. Not saying it's the greatest thing ever and I find Americans as grating as the next Brit but its nowhere near the same level of cringe.
-
Quite right. Our club has a particular aversion to marine life of any kind.
-
Works for me after the last bloke. Creating a good atmosphere, giving the crowds something to cheer and having a charismatic manager that you want to do well is the main reason I go to football. If you hate the manager and part of you wants him to fail that it removes a lot of the joy of it.
-
And tbf our club absolutely need someone like that to make the younger members feel included and valued. He might not work out but he's not going to be an unmitigated disaster like the last bloke that's for sure.
-
I actively disliked Jones so much that near the end there was a part of me that couldn't support the team like I normally do and I was genuinely close to wanting us to lose so he'd go which has never happened before. No matter what Jesse Marsch is like, he seems like a nice bloke so that will never happen and so he will never be as bad as Jones. Given the situation we are in he's worth a go.

I'm not sure if it's just new fans who joined us in the prem. I remember Lawrenson writing off our chances of signing someone when we had just come up and thinking how bizarre it was that we were making a relatively high profile signing. Nowadays it seems like some fans our club have a really good weird view of our club and where we fit in the football hierarchy.
-
I thought the comment at the fans forum that saints isn't like football manager was a bit patronising but the more I read from some of our fans, the more I feel it needed pointing out.
-
Do you realise our position? We're not completely unattractive to some managers but we're bottom of the league and odds on for relegation! Some of our fans sound deluded.
-
Where is this from?
-
I'd be interested if you could elaborate. What were you told and by whom? Like I said it's clear he's a narcissist, would be interesting to know anything else about him.
-
I'll be interested to see where he pops up next and how he does. I have a suspicion he'll do rather well in the lower leagues.
-
Because he's a thick idiot who has shagged grannys, gets pissed up and thought it was a good idea to talk about his tiny knob to the DC United players? Because his record in America is horrendous? Because he hasn't shown to have the tactical nous or managerial experience necessary to manage a club to the required standard? I can't think of a single reason why he would be a good appointment beyond being high profile and getting half a season of decent form from a Championship team with the pressure off and zero expectation. I don't want Gerrard but from a managerial point of view he's ten times better.
-
I'd say that's an horrendous appointment. I hope we go nowhere near that.
