I suspect, if you put it to a vote, with either saints fans or football journalists you would be in a tiny minority of people who viewed Pardew's season's work as a failure - possibly totally alone. I would like to trust their judgement, but that is yet to be evidenced.

I haven't and won't criticise / insult anyone for expressing their football opinions, its all about opinions! Enough of this, its boring for everyone else (and us!). Talk football and stop the personal campaign/insults and we can move on.

that's fair and could be a valid reason - he should have confidence in his performance but who knows about the respect. If he has no respect for Pardew or dislikes him then its not likely to be a good long term solution. but Cotterill????

unless we are going to attract the elite managers (which we are not) I would want Pardew to continue because: he has better record than most we are likely to attract he has built his squad players want to play for him he did well this season and performance has shown he has turned us around to a promotion standard team it would be great to have some continuity and continue the feelgood factor around the club. Cotterill's record does not come close to matching Pardew's, let alone beating it, so why upset the above factors?

Disagree - Pardew has done a good job. Turning around a squad with no balance, confidence or team spirit, winning a cup and building the form team in the country. Its the squad he built and the players want to play for him. Mgt record before us: Reading 1st season div 2 play off final 2nd season automatic promotion 3rd season play offs WHU first season play off final next winning play offs FA cup final Cotterill doesn't come close imho

Cotterill's record and experience isn't in the same league as Pardew's.

not really, Bale was only 18 when he went to Spurs and played 10 first team games before being injured for much of the season, and scored 2 goals. The next year, his first full season injury free, he played 45 games for Spurs Bale was signed as a first team player and has pretty much always been so, Surman was bit older and he never been considered first 11 player for Wolves. Still, in balance a decent move for his life but depends what you want from your career.

my guess for summer Pardew will stay we will sign RB, CM Lambert will stay as will Fonte and Puncheon Lallana / Schneiderlin will probably stay but could end up at a lower prem side.
