  1. zero interest in the club - just what you want to hear from your new owner - lol! who is writing this for them - a saint?
  2. sweet but bit corny story for OS - but then couldn't help smiling when read ticket for life bit!
  3. it was raised not as a Saints v Skates thing, but to show how unattractive skate will be - there are many many other teams in the country, probably available to buy with a lot less debt, who have a much larger customer base. So it is relevant, you will be expensive and the buyer is buying a small club
  4. unfortunately you were wrong... ...it doesn't appear to have been the last straw for them!
  5. http://www.mikeavery.co.uk/Attendance%20All%20Teams%20High%20to%20Low.htm in premiership and 31 teams are better supported, many in lower leagues - where would their potential income from support rank when they are relegated?
  6. talking about your thug reputation. Vocal support maybe good for fans and players but millionaires are not so easily impressed by a drunked w******d and 12 years old throwing stones. Another big problem is that they will see you do not have many fans and will worry how they will be able to break even on crowds of 10,000 in CCC.
  7. think some of our other rejects are more likely! unfortunately, without premiership or a decent ground, the bad name of your fans and all the scandal that has blighted your name is not so attractive!
  8. WHAT IS THE CLUB'S OVERALL PICTURE? Debts at Pompey are widely reported to be £60million. The club have failed to pay their players' wages on time four times this season. The Premier League recently withheld £2million of transfer payments and a £7million slice of TV revenue to divert to clubs owed money for previous transfer deals. Former owner Alexandre Gaydamak claims to be owed £28million and ex-defender Sol Campbell is suing for £1.7million. On the field the team are in a sorry state, five points adrift at the foot of the Barclays Premier League. full article here http://www.itv.com/sport/football/news/generalnews/portsmouth-qa-440490360.html
  9. HOW DOES HE INTEND TO STABILISE THE CLUB? His first task is to try to put off a February 10 winding-up hearing in the High Court brought by HM Customs and Revenue. That relates to an unpaid VAT bill of £7.5million. The HMRC petition has since been joined by Grosvenor, a company owned by the Duke of Westminster, relating to rent for a shop. If a request to adjourn is turned down, a £3.5million VAT shortfall must quickly be made up. The rest of the money will come from the recent sales of Younes Kaboul and Asmir Begovic. Chainrai has also given his backing to chief executive Peter Storrie and manager Avram Grant, both of whom felt undermined recently.
  10. WHO IS BALRAM CHAINRAI? A multi-millionaire Nepalese-born businessman who made his fortune in property, consumer electronics and telecommunications
  11. HIS MOVE CAME OUT OF THE BLUE. WON'T IT ADD TO THE TURMOIL AT FRATTON PARK? Chainrai has taken over with the intention of stabilising the club and then selling on. Yet his arrival has not gone down well with the previous owners and Mark Jacob, the British lawyer appointed to the board by Al Faraj, is contesting it. He claims neither party has complied with the loan agreement. Additionally, Chainrai must also pass the Premier League's fit and proper persons test
  12. SO WHY HAS HE TAKEN OVER? Chainrai, a Hong Kong-based businessman with British citizenship, has seized a 90% holding in Pompey from previous owner Ali Al Faraj after exercising a clause in a contract relating to a £17million loan to the club from his company Portpin. Pompey have continually defaulted on the loan repayments and he has acted to protect his investment out of fear the club could go into administration. That scenario could have left him with only a fraction of the money he lent
  13. some bits from itv PORTSMOUTH HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER YET AGAIN. IS THIS LATEST CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP THE ANSWER TO THEIR PRAYERS? Sadly not. Fans may have been hoping a Roman Abramovich type could come along and rescue their club but this takeover is certainly not that. Their fourth owner in less than a year, Balram Chainrai, has already said he has zero interest in running the financially-stricken outfit long term and wants to sell on.
  14. f o n t e ???
  15. now saying taken over ownership of ground not the club
  16. gets worse again! Jacobs disputes takeover! http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/5173.html
  17. real fan would have started walking down to queue a few days ago.
  18. in summary, are skates happier than yesterday or not? seems there could be some optimism with new owner but owner is only owner as club defaulted on loan and has said he does not want to keep club?
  19. I have heard from those that know Murray that; 1) he is not interested in football 2) although their sales go up after victories (hugely) he just doesn't get football fans and their strength of feeling 3) he does not see how badly he is coming across to fans and is unlikely to back down to a few stroppy saints fans (Lowe??!!)
  20. you are confusing the needs of saints fans with the needs of saints.
  21. But former Saints striker Gordon Watson insists the player can operate in a variety of roles. “I’ve seen Puncheon a lot playing for MK Dons and he’s one of the best players in the league,” said Watson. “He’s definitely one of those that could play at the next level up. “If he can produce what he’s capable of then he can be anything he wants to be.” Watson, currently a scout with ex-Saints boss Nigel Pearson at Leicester, added: “He’s got the lot – he’s pacy, he’s tricky, he can use both feet, he can cross with both feet. “I’ve seen him play wide left, wide right and down through the middle. “I’ve seen him play in the hole and I’ve seen him as a holding midfielder. “I have seen Saints several times this season and one thing they have lacked is real pace. “Puncheon provides this. I know there were Championship clubs looking at him. “Also Norwich and Charlton were interested
  22. I heard that Pardew only wanted Seaborne but Cortesse said that he would spend over £1m extra and buy a CB currently playing in CCC, who fans think is great and should play in the prem, has not reached him peak yet. Pardew couldn't believe his luck when Cortesse gave him Fonte!
  23. Not seen Eurosport at St Marys since;)
  24. I can't say I have warmed to Cortesse but he is clearly in the position he is for a reason. I agree about saving the adulation (but as I pointed out in our discussions about enjoying it while it lasts - it seldom does last and usually ends in tears!). I appreciate what Weston says, and although I don't dispute it, it is too hearsay for me to form an opinion on. I cannot understand the banning, and struggle to imagine a scenario where I would feel it was justified. However I know little about it. The tone of Murray, deliberately mocking NC and bringing up Lowe makes me think 2 things though; 1) He has in behaving in a petty, vindictive way and clearly can't stand NC- so was he behaving this way to NC leading up to the ban? 2) Whilst NC remains silent he continues to drive NC away - why would NC even want to meet him after those articles? My support would always lean towards the club over the echo - one I care about, the other I have a passing interest and have previously been a customer for more years than I care to remember
