  1. Just as well we haven't started yet Frankie:rolleyes: Chris
  2. Shame you didn't have more on Holland though even £10 @ 12/1 you could have either layed them or backed Spain for a guaranteed profit of course.
  3. Going to be doing an ew Yankee these 4. However, main bet is on Drifting Gold @ 10/1 on Betfair. I'd be amazed if this price holds up and 10/1 looks great value. Ayr 14:30 Speedy Senorita Ayr 15:00 Requisite Wind 18:10 Drifting Gold NAP Wolv 20:20 Bold Hawk Aside from Drifting Gold another day I'm not planning to get heavily involved in. Good luck, Chris
  4. Easily the worst WC I have ever seen capped by a truly dire final. Holland admitted to setting out to "disrupt" Spain's passing game but took it to an extreme and then blame the referee for the fact they lost. Suggest they look much closer to home.
  5. That was simply an impossible game to referee, De Jong should definitely have gone in the 1st half, probably Van Bommel too. However, as Micky says the players and especially the Dutch were a disgrace. Webb was in an impossible situation, send off 2 Dutch players and be damned or try to give them the benefit of the doubt and keep it 11 v 11. In fact I do believe if he had had a mind too Webb could easily have sent 5 Dutch players which of course then means the game has to be abandoned as Holland have less than 7 players ( almost certain that is the rule still ). In fact send off 2/3 and suddenly Dutch players go off injured and they contrive to go down to 6. A dreadful advert for the game, I wouldn't be surprised if FIFA lay the blame at the door of the officials but that would be typical and totally wrong IMO. The players have a responsibilty to the game, themselves, everyone but many are too arrogant to realise. Cheating is what I'll remember this WC for, I rarely stick up for officials but as I said that was too much for anyone I venture to suggest.
  6. Oops, still here but going. Just for the hell of it : Stratford 5.00 Sadlers Star 5 points ew ! Chris
  7. As long as you had a good day, shame you weren't on Waveband but glad Premier Loco did oblige, tipped by Bungle but also highlighted in my analysis of the race blowing yet another massive hole in Frankie's cheap shots:D Didn't actually see the race and it's missing from the ATR replays which is annoying. I fear now though if Frankie is also on Sadler's Star it has no chance !!
  8. No, I don't want to dicatate the rules Frankie ! I'm hoping a few others will post an opinion and we can find some middle ground ! I was going to suggest dragging kipwit over here but in truth I doubt that would help much !!! Anyway I really must drag myself on ( Noooooooo I mean OFF D'oh) here and FB. Never mind writer's cramp RSI is becoming highly probable Chris
  9. Please do Frankie, I'll reply re Harcas which I've just seen in my pm's, both fancies emanate from the same source though. Chris
  10. Or last on -10 points:D Really though nothing strong enough today for me and I'd still prefer more than one selection, in fact I'd go as far as to say maximum 3/5 points any one bet otherwise you end up on the last day of the month with maybe someone miles ahead and a 10 point 100/1 winner just for the hell of it actually wins ! As above ( or maybe on t'other thread) I know how these things can work !! Anyway I think it is fair to say my awkward streak is well and truly on over drive;) So essentially without any established rules the challenge cannot start !!! Chris
  11. Ok, you're on your own at present:D
  12. Lets see if anyone else chips in without holding our breath though. Time to head on back for some more FB bashing Eg , this http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=68310606562&share_id=129114290435914&comments=1#s129114290435914 Chris
  13. Oh and all bets settled at SP !
  14. More likely to be rules if I'm involved:D I reckon everyone who wants to partake should say be allocated say up to 10 points a day to be placed on any selections, minimum 1 point or 1 point ew. So if you want 10 points on your NAP then fine. Given that the number competing is likely to be small, (2 maybe ! ) then settling the bets shouldn't be that difficult if you keep it to plain singles or ew bets and no doubles, trebles etc; Needless to say you don't need to play every day, obviously then you score nought but lose nought. Also if you have a day when only a few tenous fancies no need to use 10 points. If this sounds complicated sorry, I know what I mean ! Just opening it up for a further debate. Oh and each challenge to run on a monthly basis so each month the reigning "champ" is there to be gunned down New thread starts each month which should make it easier to follow? Chris
  15. Can't wait to see it Chris
  16. Hang on a second, is this a tipping challenge with just you setting the rules, well one main rule but well and truly adhering to the KISS principle which isn't for me:D I used to administer a much more advanced tipping challenge on a service called Relay Racing, was good fun though some of the bets ( forecasts for example) were not so easy to settle. I reckon that first you set up the thread, then WE and anyone else discuss how to operate it and then we go ! Chris
  17. Ok, going to play around with ew doubles and trebles these 3 though Treeko has already been well backed and the early 5/1 gone. Southwell 3.50 Treeko : Kyle James takes a very valuable seven pounds off the back of this five year old gelding who comes into the race having finished second last time out at Market Rasen. He had Jim Best's Calzaghe behind him that day who has since gone on to win on the flat. Looks almost sure to make the frame at least. Perth 4.40 Harcas 2 point win, 1 point place : Connections are reportedly expecting a huge run from this Martin Todhunter trained eight year old who is a previous course and distance winner and who comes into the race having finished fifth last time out. Currently around 10/1 Stratford 5.00 Sadlers Star 2 point win, 1 point place: The recent recruit to the training ranks Michael Blake saddles this seven year old gelding who won last time out at Worcester and is a previous course and distance winner. Expected to go well, also around the 10/1 mark, drifting slightly though. Good luck, Chris
  18. Quite pathetic attempt to explain yourself, truly:D I could have a field day here but having, for the 1st time in years, actually slept beyond 7am, until 10am when my Mum rang and woke me up, I'm just eating breakfast. However, I can't less pass Stellite, for sure he was a good price which is kind of what you are looking for when backing horses:rolleyes: Well I look for value anyway rather than sticking pins in the Racing Post ( and quite probably then making voodoo dolls of every horse I'm opposing ) or deciding some stupid name is the key. But now to start saying you have to edit a post as the stupid "smileys" aren't working, words fail me. I can only imagine its a precursor to using the "smileys" as some kind of excuse for losing tips, "Oh, I was only joking when I tipped that but the winky "smiley" thing didn't work!". Classic I'll look at your tips properly after breakfast and once I have stopped laughing ! Fair to say though I only have 3 fancies at present, sadly none run in any of the races you have covered. Chris
  19. Ahem, meaning what exactly After banging in the winners yesterday I wasn't expecting Saturday to be any great shakes. As it was from my eventual selections Demolition Man race a nice race to at least return my stake @ 9/1, Shernando ran well to finish 4th @ 17/2 ( would not have won but checked several times, not Joe Fanning's greatest ride TBH), Prohibit only just failed to get up, 3rd by a neck and a head, Lunjano/Kildare Sun were truly abyssmal as was Youm Al Mizazin though only backed him at 18/1 as a MC runner and the favourite was too short. Dubai Media duly did get turned over at 4/6 but didn't see Christmas Lights coming early:D Bahamian Lad was disappointing as was our joint fancy Rapid Water, Lucy Brown ran her race at 14/1 but of course I saved the best till last ! Stellite was just over 8/1 on BF and a 10 year old winning over any other distance than 7 furlongs for the FIRST time was a tremendous effort and made my day regardless of anything else and that explains the price ( do keep up Frankie ) !! Anyway well done Bungle, I only came on to see who eventually backed what though aside from Frank Street no Frankie tips are registering;) Who on earth was stupid to want to lay Frank Street at 100/1 in running, Guga was surely travelling well in front but it was no surprise that he failed to see it out, shame I don't bother with this in running malarkey ! Anyway lets see what Sunday brings, hopefully an explanation from Frankie will start the day, you really can go off people Chris
  20. Lol, really was quite tasty last year too ! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/motorsport/2009/06/29/fight-club-on-bikes-scott-s-a-big-hit-at-gp-115875-21480010/
  21. http://speedwaygp.com/en/newsdetail/a1603?SID=b9378e065cbdbfb31b2ae78bfce81fb8
  22. Rapid Water the NAP then Frankie:D Seems we agree on nought else though I always keep an eye open for Capaill Laith, just too short for me today. The 4.05 has ony 7 runners, the usual W/D making sure of that and I can't recall ever playing ew when it's first two only. Not sure why though ! Chris
  23. Saturday and I'm taking it easy, selections only: York 15:05 Demolition 2 point win, 1 point place/Sopranist 2 point win 1 point place Ascot 15.30 Shernando 2 point win, 1 point place Ascot 16.40 Prohibit NAP Nott 16:55 Lujano 2 point win 1 point place/Kildare Sun 2 point win, 1 point place York 16.50 Youm Al Mizayin Chester 17.05 Bahamian Lad Ascot 17:15 Rapid Water Salis 18:45 Lucy Brown Hamilton 20.40 Stellite Good luck "all", probably just Frankie though! Chris
  24. Well I'm pretty sure it is better than nothing Russ! I'll probably back Rapid Water but another 2 hours of analysis to go yet. I should also warn you if you didn't see above I had a storming day yesterday which probably means a lousy one today Main thing of course is enjoy the day, beautiful weather so hard not to enjoy. Chris
  25. Ok, quickly will give one per race though only just started my analysis and Saturday is always the hardest day of the week ! 1.45 Ascot, Citrus Star @ 6/1:- noted working well on the Cambridge Road Polytrack (7fl), with other interesting Chris Wall handicappers Rafiqa & Plaisterer 2.20 ? Not really an easy race at all. If you want a bet Mick Channon's Saucy Buck at around 16/1 is worth an interest at least. 2.50 - See analysis below 3.30 Also very tricky, stick a pin the race card, see where it ends up ! Otherwise without any real conviction I'd probably opt for Danehill Sundance, a two time winner this year @ around 7/1 4.05 You don't really want to be backing horses at odds on so trying to oppose Saratosa Sunshine who is around 8/11. Only 7 run so no real point in my opinion going ew, Faithful One @ 5/1 is very consistent. 4:40 Ascot, Prohibit @9/2: - ran a cracker latest at Windsor in hot Cl2 handicap, when disadvantaged (pulled out widest of all from favoured stands rail at widest configuration), running on gamely and not beaten far. Well ahead of mark. Also Present Alchemy @11/4 , well suited by a stiff 5 furlongs on fast ground, short of room at Sandown he prospered at Beverley forging clear and looks well capable of defying a 7lb rise. A grand sort physically and well-regarded at home. 5.15 Rapid Water @ around 5/1 2.50 Summer Mile Stakes Pace & market report: The Summer Mile (G2, Ascot) 2.50 Alexandros is a G3 winner but probably wants 9fl these days on fast ground. He also tends to be buried mid-division which isn't necessarily a plus on the round course. Dream Eater seems to have gone forward after a wind op and is weighted to reverse form with Pressing. He is held up and has Dingaan to encourage a strong pace - but he got there too late in the Queen Anne and on the round course is always liable to meet trouble up the inner or arrive too late switched wide and needs the breaks. Vertigineaux stays a mile on soft, and was a close up 2nd to Archipenko in a G3 on gd-firm at Nad Al Sheba (2009). Archipenko happens to be a prior winner of this and soft ground types also have an odd habit of prospering here, but this needs a career best. Pressing is an all-round model of consistency, nicely drawn to go forward and sit handy. The yard is respected, and despite shouldering a penalty could easily wind up in the mix from that forward position, albeit likely to find one too good. Ouqba and Premier Loco are prime candidates. Ouqba thrived over the winter and showed significant improvement in the Lockinge, so his run in the Queen Anne was unexpected and too bad to be true. We need to establish what went wrong because The Lockinge run is probably the best piece of recent form on offer. Premio Loco stays a mile on good ground, handles faster conditions and this should suit. He's sometimes buried mid-division but is capable of being ridden more prominently. Chris Wall has him in career best form, taking the G3 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket (26/06), conceding weight all round. The main query is whether this comes too soon. Good luck, don't go broke but enjoy:D
