But we won't. Even if we ended up Blue Square division 9 we'll still have a club in some form.....

Because we're in exactly the same scenario that you had at The Dell. You only had a capacity of 15k yet you rarely sold that out. You can't judge it properly until we're in new stadium. What link? Show me a bona fide press report that shows we were struggling to sell F.A. cup tickets. We could have sold those allocations out twice over.... Yes in exactly the same way our FOURTH division attendances outsold yours! Ok, ask anyone actually IN football which is the bigger club- you won't like the answer.... I wouldn't....
  3. Yep, agree...

Well, there must be some reason? For a provincial club we do have a pretty attractive history- Four major trophies, the navy connection, a city that's improved so much over the last 10 years. A pretty passionate fanbase that makes a hell of a racket, even characters like Westwood all add a bit of colour to the place. Yeah, it's a good club in many ways.... Yep, every minute has been a gas. I posted yesterday that we've had more fun in the last 7 years than you've had in the last 30. Three trophies- Championship, Asia cup (ok, not a massive deal) and another F.A. cup. Played in the UEFA cup (as cup winners, not by default), seen some truly brilliant players come and go- Diarra was genuinely worth the admission money alone. IF it goes tits up tomorrow we'll be gutted, of course we will, but we'll look back with a lot of pride and satisfaction at actually getting good value for money for a good few years after seeing 40 years of poo.....

Fair enough, but with Pardew? nope, sorry can't see it. Doesn't have the galvanising personality to be able to turn sows ears into silk purses. A nice guy by all accounts, knows the game very well and wants it played the right way, but not a miracle worker.....

If you pay the wages, they'll come. We did that off the back of Crouchies' five million from Villa. That was the crucial change of tactic that Redknapp managed to talk Mandaric into. We signed some top banana players (at Championship level) for sweet F.A. but paid them top dollar. Your problem appears to be that you're applying the same tactic but not offering the wages. Pay them the money... But if my above assertion is correct (and it is early days to be fair) you won't get there in 5,8 or even 10 years! Your academy is largely bankrupt of talent on last seasons evidence, and if you're not paying top wages, where are the players coming from? You might well consolidate this season, but on the evidence so far, you don't stand an earthly of doing any more than that........

Well you WOULD like to think that, wouldn't you? We'll see......

Yeah, maybe. I can see where you're coming from re PFC but I just don't see us having any medium to long term problems as long as we stay up. For us that has to be the short term goal. I suspect that we won't really know our true respective prospects until the day after the transfer deadline. By then we'll see if either of us has got any cash/ambition.....?

Hmmm, maybe, but if you've got money to burn, which of course you must have as the fourth richest club in the country, why bother with freebies? You're absolutely loaded! Go on, **** it, splash the cash, make the football world sit up and take notice!!
  10. No problem at all. More than happy to set the record straight  So why reply to it then, and why start the bloody thread in the first place? And we're supposed to be obsessed with you

Not really. All the time we're a Premier league club, with Sky money rolling in, someone will come in and buy us. We just need to make sure we don't fall out of the top flight that's all, because then we would be in trouble. As for your solution beyond your wildest dreams, it's no good saying you're the fourth richest club in the UK, because you plainly are not as in it's your OWNER who might be worth x number of millions. If he doesn't feel inclined to spend any of it (and so far it doesn't look like he is) where does that leave you? Scrabbling around the bargain basement bins trying to put a team together. If Pardew can do that and turn you into a promotion winning team he's a genius. I don't think he is a genius, but the jury is still out on that one I suppose......
  12. Ok, line by line: "new billionaire owner" who appears to be spending er, not much. No point having a billionaire if he's only bought you as an 'investment'. "premiership ground and training facilities". You can't call it a premiership ground- you're not IN the premiership. In fact your so called Premiership ground is the very reason you're no longer in the premiership. It's a white elephant. "good youth academy" Yep, give you that one. All that class that was unleashed onto the Championship last season really showed just how good your 'famed' academy really is. "great pedigree of manager" Ok, starting to get more desperate now. A great pedigree of manager who has been bombed out of the last three clubs he was managing. "future is safe" How do you know that? The Cranemeister could have his families finest rolling down towards St Mary's now to knock it down! No-one knows if there club is "safe", whoever they support. "massive fan base, 22k turned up for a friendly" What massive fanbase? Of that 22k, 8k were freebies: "Many of the tickets "sold" were given out as freebies either with ST's or to schools." That brings it down to 14k. 14k at what, £10-15 a ticket, for a game against Ajax. Not quite Man U numbers are they? "no fat drug addicks looking to take more money out of an already financially f*cked club." Yeah, like you've been through our books and know it all.... "So ok, hope you enjoyed your brief stint in the prem mind, glass houses and all that." Don't worry, we'll be in the top flight for a long, long time yet...
  13. Which again, shows you didn't read it properly....
  14. Indeed, and how are you getting on down in the third division?
  15. Which just goes to show you didn't read it properly thicko......
  16. Realistically? Extremely unlikely. However, who would have thought Pompey would have signed 5 current England internationals in the last three years? Admit it, you all laughed your ****s off when the 'Sol Campbell to sign for Pompey' stories started surfacing a few years back. You laughed with a bit less certainty when the 'David James to sign for Pompey' story broke. By the time we'd signed Johnson, Muntari, Diarra, and Defoe you'd stopped laughing a long time earlier. The point is if you pay someone enough money they'll come to you. So what if it doesn't last forever? We've had more fun in the last 7 years than you've had in the last 30. The bottom line is that despite the title of this thread, the takeover has NOT collapsed, Al Fahim has NOT failed the FPPT, we are NOT going down and we are NOT going into administration. You might as well lock this one down, because remember: "It's the hope that kills you".
  17. "Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona is offering to bring four international stars to newly owned Portsmouth, if the club appoints him as their global ambassador, his lawyer has claimed. And in a further development, an advisor to new Pompey owner Sulaiman Al Fahim confirmed this morning that “discussions” have been held with Maradona’s cousin Remigio Maradona over a role for the former World Cup winner at the club. Confidential emails sent by Maradona’s lawyer Angel Oscar Moyano claim the superstar is willing to act on behalf of Valencia striker David Villa and Barcelona hero Samuel Eto’o. The email also mentions his son-in-law Kun Aguero, who plays for Atletico Madrid and another Valencia striker, David Silva, as possible targets. “Diego Armando Maradona has players “personal“ commitment [sic] to enter into exclusive talks with Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim”, writes Moyano. Eto'o, Villa, Silva. Crap players or what? We'll be down this season for sure and in administration within a year. Yeah, looks like you guys were right all along. We've fuucking had it big style..........
  18. "Maradona's lawyer Angel Oscar Moyano claims his client has players lined up to join Al Fahim's Fratton Park revolution and that he is ready to quit the Argentina post he only accepted last October. "He has got top players ready and he is even ready to leave the Argentine national team," Moyano told Arabian Business. Support "He wants to build a strong team for which he offers his mediation for signing players of top level, who with the support of Diego Maradona, will be ready to come to Portsmouth." So then, actual quotes from the guys lawyer. And lawyers are very careful what they say aren't they? Still, nevermind- if he comes in I'm sure he'll look jealously at the third division team down the road
  19. I didn't say you personally have said those quotes, but they're littered all across this site- the arrogance is unbelievable! All your doom and gloom for Pompey is purely based on the fact that you're absolutely convinced we're going down. We haven't even started playing yet FFS!!
  20. There are plenty of people willing to buy a Premiership club, especially one with a good history of actually winning things. Er, yes. See above- all the time we're a Premiership club, we have value to an investor. It's only when you fall out of the Prem that the cracks start to appear, wouldn't you say? But you're forgetting- we've been through this ourselves already 10 years ago. You seem to think you have a monopoly on suffering. Jeez, we suffered for 40 odd years until Milan came in. With that in mind, and comments like "rightful place above you", and "natural order re-establishing itself", is it any wonder that a few you get filled in whenever you go shooting your mouths off east of Titchfield?
  21. ok, fair do's...
  22. Am I right in thinking that you were/are 'Grumpydelldays' from other forums?
  23. Based on what?
  24. What a load of crap! Wild, pie in the sky assumptions when in reality NONE of us mere mortals knows what's actually going on. You're just hoping we're about to go pop....
  25. Hmmm, but the memory of that one was more than wiped out by this little encounter. Such sweet, sweet revenge.....
