  1. Probably but as they seem far more resistant than the British perhaps measures will be localised.
  2. Yes I read it yesterday, not commenting on the validity of it all, just pointing the way to what Whitey is talking about.
  3. https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?61783-Coronavirus-Discussion-Thread#.XrgPi0Qza1s Post 2103 or 2106. But Norton gives me a dodgy site warning, didn't yesterday though.
  4. Well this was put up on the other thread yesterday. oops dodgy site. Look on the thread on the Saints board if you want to see it.
  5. Their position isn't hopelessly bad though and their last 5 results aren't all that bad.
  6. Someone put up a text yesterday I believe.
  7. No probably not, but going back to the 60's my parents didn't even consider it because it had a reputation as a Catholic place with friars and the like. Anyway I wanted to go to Taunton's and was respectable enough academically to be accepted.
  8. You'd probably need to look at the polls before the 2016 election to make any real comparison. Clinton was well ahead in a few states that she lost I seem to remember. Trump shouldn't win, he shouldn't have won in 2016 either but at least in 2016 he had an electable opponent. It will all depend on Biden's running mate.
  9. I seem to remember that the Portsmouth -Saints game in the Championship had very strict rules applied to it, bubble bus and all that. They couldn't ban the game but they certainly made it difficult enough to go there to watch it.
  10. [ QUOTE=Whitey Grandad;2818714]They are widely spaced in the open air. Probably the safest place in the country. The groups might be spaced but the people in them certainly aren't . Unless of course they all live together anyway which I doubt looking at the number in the group of girls toward the middle. Some more idiots here, protesting against amongst other things 5G, Vaccinations, Bill Gates and the Lockdown. Here in France that would be about 2000 euros in the Nations's much depleted coffers.
  11. What extreme measures? You have had it easy in the UK. My neighbours got fined 270 euro for going to the shop together. It's one person per car here and 1 person per family in the shops. I know of others who've been fined for passing a shop on the way to the shop. We've been allowed one hour outside once a day and not more than 1 km from home. Your measures are lightweight and that's why you're not controlling the disease.
  12. Macron (not that I'm a fan) was perfectly clear about it the other day. Le temps d'avant était le temps d'avant and will not return at any time in the near future.
  13. Yep, seen that, the beach photos, the idiots cut off at the Old Harry Rock and the anti-lockdown protest near Westminster Bridge. Today is just the first day of three to boot.
  14. It won't be just a few half-wits; It will be all those who don't have access to whatever channel the game is on. Live quality streaming might cut that down a bit but there will always be people who can't watch games without all of their mates around them supping beer. Look at the photos that are everywhere on the internet today, beaches overrun, parks full of groups with beer, wine and pizza. Anyway it doesn't concern me at all so do whatever you like but don't eventually blame the government for letting you do it. NB In the protest photos we see a fat tosser with a Liverpool polo taking selfie.
  15. It's not the players, it's the groups of people that will agglomerate to watch the games.
  16. It never was that great anyway. Way behind King Edwards, Tauntons, GG and St Annes (not that St Mary's took girls in my day anyway) and even Itchen. Plus I think they only took Catholics...might be wrong there though.
  17. Well from the photos circulating on the internet today I think we know what people think of government advice. If you want people not to do something you either have to make it impossible( ie shutting places down) or extremely onerous if they get caught doing it anyway.
  18. I think they had far more volunteers than places on the Oxford programme anyway. Might be still able to sign up at Imperial although they're a bit picky.
  19. I see that most (or all ) of the bars and clubs in S.Korea have been shut down again because there were some new cases. Don't take any risks those people.
  20. There are some treatments that seem to reduce the impact of the disease if they're given early enough. Apparently the same sort of tritherapy that's used for Aids has shown some good results in a limited study somewhere or other. Then again so have Chlorpromazine, Ivermectine and Tocilizumab but the studies are limited and will probably be disproved for general use.
  21. Perhaps you don't need billions of doses, some people seem to be by far less affected than others. The next step is probably understanding why that is so. Starting with why the UK population is so fragile.
  22. 405,000 deaths for 228 million cases doesn't really compare with 31000 deaths for 200,000 cases does it. What is so alarming about the UK's figures is the death/case ratio. If you had 228 million cases of Covid 19 in the UK (well not actually possible because there are only 68 million people) you'd have 35,000000 deaths. Covid 19 is a mean disease, well especially to the fragile population of the UK.
  23. Ah right, someone reasonably restrained then . The rest of the Milton seemed to just let off steam for the 2 hours or so that they were there of a Saturday. A marvelous escape valve for the pressure built up in a stressful week at work. But that was then and now 98% of the Milton faithful would be turfed out by the stewards before half time.
  24. Not too confident about the Oxford vaccine then ?
  25. Urggh those crappy brown blazers.
