Students and the armed forces all in one thread....
Thedelldays replied to sotonjoe's topic in The Lounge
You could look at it many ways....any idea that gets more people to uni is a good one...maybe however, those people who want to go and do a proper uni course, i.e not "golf course management" and the like should be given that money. IMO, this is a ploy to jump on the back of the good feeling being felt towards the forces at the mo... you will find (and I have said this before on here) few personnel currently IN the forces who complain too much...sure you get grumbles about certain things as you would in all public departments...and you get the odd person going public on their complaints....what brings little ploys like this is, those not serving and have never served feel they should be offended for anything done against the forces or offended for what they do...why, I have no idea. you only have to look at the stick Jimmy Carr got about his joke regarding britain special olympians having more forces people within the numbers...not many (if at all) people from the forces actually had a problem with it...infact, the joke came from the guys at the rehibilitation centre in the midlands...the usual faceless do-gooders got all offended and outraged for no reason. poor move from the tory's imo -
maybe but the area where it took place had a cease fire agreement for years... the guy instrumental behind bringing the AFCON to angola was an EX-Freedom fighter...I guess his judgement was waay off anyway..I wonder if Adebeyor ran the length of the bus to slide infront of the gunners..?
-
and that should be the end of it.. ML would not allow (I just cant imagine it) letting anyone close to a rupert lowe to run a multi million pound company he ownes and takes a very keen interest in...
-
im getting a feeling that some WANT there to be criticism of NC already... why are people still wanting to drag up bad elements of the club...I thought that died with the old regime
-
stupid skate fuk
-
by a group called FLEC
-
agreed...1st team is all that counts for me... I think what is odd, is how fans complain that you hear too much about chairmen/CEOs these days then in the next breath talk about/disect if said person may/may not be hard to work for ONLY if what they do has a negative effect on the 1st team should people care (like lowe)
-
no one hated him in cardiff..? I remember (very well) going to plymouth when sturrock was in charge for a pre season friendly (lost 3-1 and it was obvious we were in trouble) and the saints fans were singing "rupert lowes red and white army" sure few had concerns about him..but he was not widely disliked like he ended up being... only a few idiots with paranoia (like saintrichmond) will simply blame lowe for everything and anything... people care about the 1st team ultimately....if cortese relegates saints and over see's a massive part in sending us to near oblivion, then yes, I would expect him to be hated as much as lowe from I can read here..it is almost like saying "lowe got treated this way, so why isnt NC" everything is different, the mood, the situation, even the fans have changed...everything happens on its own merits and warrents is own reaction
-
to be honest..it is not hypocrisy.. Lowe ultimately got hated because he was doing an utterly dreadful job...the worse we were doing the more he was hated.. Cortese will so far, be given the benfit of the doubt...at the end of the day, if the club is successful then it matters nothing to me how the club internally is run...I support the team and could not really give a toss about the internal workings of SFC..UNLESS it has an effect on the first team
-
it was freedom fighters for that part of Angola.....
-
indeed..the proof will be when in the prem...the cost to get there will not be that great compared to staying there
-
you have to be kidding..we breed cows for one reason and one reason only.....to eat..they are bred in captivity, sometimes sold in captivity and then sent to the slaughter house for us to fill our faces... at what point is a cow free..? at what point is a cow a pet..? it is neither, it is bred for us to drink its milk and then one day eat...plenty, PLENTY of people in the world think that is just plain wrong..maybe more than those against eating dolphins...who knows we do not see a problem with what we do to cows, sheep, pigs etc as we have always done that...most parts of japan probably cant see the problem in tucking in to a bit of whale as for their meat being poisened...our standards are not that great over here are they...BSE, Blue tongue, foot and mouth, bird flue etc etc ffs, OUR livestock was banned from entering the EU not that long ago.. as someone who took part in the disposal of livestock during the Foot and Mouth crisis..I can tell you, we are far from humain to these creatures
-
either way... I just find is laughable how we think we can (try) telly other what they can and cant eat, despite the FACT that said country has been eating SAID meat for thousands of years...depsite the fact that at the very least 1 billion people would prefer we did not eat cows....yet, are we likely to even listen to them should they think about asking us to stop..? did not think so
-
I am a "not make a judgement until I know some/all of the facts" type of person....seems others clearly are not
-
do you go to japanese restaurants in Japan..? if you go to an "indian" restaurant in "india"...you will find the menu quite different than here
-
says who..? depends on what you count as cruelty..?
-
I do know what you mean mate.. but lets not assume too much..maybe we are a plaything for markus...everyone assumes he wont throw the cash around..you only have to look at the start of this thread...when it seems we are spending very heavily for league 1, no matter how you slice it...even quite big for half of the CCC....
-
maybe..but the topic at that point was about players that have left
-
mccormack was a slip of the tongue..he meant DMG
-
you seem to think we are more humain than these countries..? why on earth do you think that...?
-
well, blow me sideways The Jomon Period (7000/8000 to 3000 B.C.):
-
I could give a flying what other cultures eat..I have traveled the world and seen first hand what people are capable of eating.. I do not have to eat dog, cow, chickhen, cat, whale if I dont want to...and wont be told what I should/should not eat..I certainly will not be getting all upset if another culture on the other side of the planet eats something I wont
-
no, they do not like the fact that we eat cows...simple as that they do not subscribe to the idea that it is OK as the population need feeding.. seeing as there are over 1 billion hindus and I would suggest, for arguments sake 99% of them dont eat cows, then no, it is NOT a necessity to feed us on cows..
-
you know this, how..?
-
who cares if it part of their staple diet...who decideds what a completely different culture eats..?
