Are we? Recently Obama referred to the Falklands as the Malvinas and said that we should open talks with Argentina over sovereignty. The Americans want us out and the region stable under Argentinian rule so that their oil companies can invest billions in exploiting the reserves. This is an example of a situation where our interests and the Americans interests differ and illustrates why we should resist being beholden to them.
