I was loling at the naivity of the suggestion that we don't have anything to worry about. The budget deficit is very serious. The mountain of debt is very serious. Couple this with the decline of the west and the rise of emerging economies and the future is very uncertain.

Don't fret Andrew, i'm on 9 points on here now so know i'm gonna get banned soon. I spend too much time on the PC anyway so it'll mean I get more things done about the house.

It's a detterent and it is extremely valuable. Also while we have Nukes we will always sit at the top table when it comes to global affairs.

Was it you? http://foreversaints.1talk.net/

How can you be sure and then question yourself?

I agree.

My biggest concern with the defence cuts is the potential for humiliation in the future. One day we may need a strong navy to defend one of our overseas possessions - The Falklands or Gibraltar.

I couldn't care less who takes offence at my post. I know i'm right and that's all i'm bothered about.

If we must help foreigners then we should do it properly and make a real difference. The British government should be buying land overseas and leasing it to pioneering UK farmers who will turn it into comercial farms. This will mean that surplus food is grown, employment created, and and then they'll be able to buy their own medicines. Charity doesn't help poor foreign people - they need a middle class of people to create a self sustaining solution.

When I do leave the forum it'll be a duller place. Just like when all the other interesting posters left.

And of course it's an absolute that you are right and I am wrong.

I don't believe everything ploiticians say. The fact America sterilised it's own people WAS unbelieveable.

If this happened then that would alleviate the problem, but in societies that live on the bread line with no social security or pensions, they are always going to have large families to provide for them. It's like us taking out an insurance policy.

What rubbish. These sort of comments from you are to be expected though, what with your reputation for posting stupid things. A "bedroom general" sums you up perfectly.

I'm right though. Most of you were unaware of the Kenyan concentration camps before I told you. I see it as my calling to educate the ignorant.

I can fully understand your view, however as i've explained it is not alleviating the root cause of the problem. In fact by vaccinating a population that cannot feed itse;f you are sowing the seeds for famine. What Africa needs is food before medicine. You start at the bottom and work up. What Africa needs is commercial farmers with experience on the land. Rhodesia was once the bread basket of Africa that not only provided food for its own people, but exported a surplus. Since the land reforms, and the resulting eviction of the white farmers, agriculture has reverted back to subsistence farming. This was fine in 1890 before medicine increased life expectancy.

Miximetosis was developed by scientists to try to control rabbit populations. AIDS was developed by the US millitary and delivered through the W.H.O vacination programme in Africa at the time when Marxism was spreading down the continent. I'm not surprised by this story.

But we have the means to feed ourselves. Or should i rephrase that - we did have the means to feed ourselves. If our economy goes pear shaped we won't.
-
No. I believe in a natural balance. In Africa for example infant mortality is high and life expectancy is low because most African states are badly managed. Nature is managing the incompetence and thinning out the species. A natural solution. That said if Africa was managed properly (take rhodesia as an example) it can feed itself and support a population. By giving medicines to backward nations all you're doing is artificially stimulating a population boom - BUT WHERE IS THE FOOD TO FEED THIS BOOM? This is why I would not give any money to this programme, but instead encourage African nations to embrace comercial farming and to put experienced comercial farmers on the land.
-
Sadly this in itself is unwise. The world is almost running at it's capacity to feed the human race. Humans are no different to any other species and natures balance is being artificially doctored. This is completely unsustainable.

I might choose to give, but that should be my choice. That £2.8 billions equates to £45 from every man, woman and child in the UK.
